If you saw an overboost condition, why didn't the ECU catch it? How high did it go? How did it happen? Stock boost control?

Did you have a vacuum line come off of somewhere? You're not telling us something here...

I had a 3 port setup as a means of boost control via cobb AP piggyback ems. When viewing relative pressure on the AP values/ranges can be set so that when they are exceeded the on screen display flashes black and white to warn you that value has been exceeded, my AP flashed momentarily while vewing boost but I did not see it as I was paying attention to the road, after the car lost power and started to run poorly my buddy pointed out that at one point the AP was flashing, I was like **** now I know why my car is ****ed.

OK. So we took the block and head to the machine shop, and I forgot the camera. I had to take pictures with my phone. Sorry for the poor quality. You can get the idea from the pics though.

and i'm part of it(i'll go check on that, i'm sure someone added me because it was a big deal when mine went on stock turbo at the dragway running vp109 and 24psi and lost a ring land)...what a pos motor, rev's like crap, eats gas, doesn't respond well at all to heat, doesn't like timing, stock ecu nobody uses, expensive to mod..i hated the car and am so glad i'm out of it...sad thing is it really hit my wallet

fixed the motor and was in no position after that to stick around for much longer with not being happy at 300whp. Takes a lot of know how imho to make them handle very well too...evo is pretty easy to do well out of the box imho. Can't wait until I can afford a used blue or black evo ix rs.

good luck because the EVO IX RS doesn't come in either of those colors lol RS only comes in white and red. blue is only available on the standard IX, and black is available on the standard car, as well as the SE and MR SE.

back on topic: good luck with the build, i'm sure Kevin and Co. will take care of you. he's the only person i'll let work on my EVO besides myself of course. it's something like an 8 hour drive for me, but it was worth it the last time i made the trip. i'd love to check out the new shop, but hopefully i won't need to go visit them any time soon haha.

Would the AFR neccessarily change if you use a higher Octain fuel? I'm thinking of in the UK where we run 97 - 99 Octain fuel.

I'm thinking of a UK tuner who is running 12 - 12.8 AFR

Running a higher octane fuel will not change your AFR although it would allow you to safely run an otherwise high(er) AFR .

Thanks, so on 98 Octane fuel an AFR of 12 -13 would be safe?

Also running 1.85 bar peak boost (soory not sure what PSI that is) on stock turbo.

Consult your tuner with this question as he will be able to better answer it than myself. The only thing that I know for sure that is universal with any application is that with a higher octane fuel you will be able to maintain higher AFR's.
