Thumbs down Evo X Fuel Return Pipe Recall

Just got the recall in the mail, i dont really feel like returning to stock set up, will they still do the replacement for free if my car is modded? Is this recall necessary to get fixed? or Should i take the time to stock my car out and get it fixed then put it all back on?

Thanks

Not taking my mods off either. It's not their business unless my aftermarket parts caused something else to malfunction.

Be aware, that i had and issue with another manufacturer. Went in for a blow speaker, tech so my hard pipes, and got my power train warranty removed. Just FYI.

technically they can't do that; for any incident, they have to prove that it's caused by a specific mod of yours, otherwise warranty can still apply. they can do whatever they want, but it is still honorable as far as warranty is concerned.

** Rant ON **

Get over it. You modded your car. Cowboy up and grow a pair. If you don't want the dealer to see your mods, go buy the parts and put them on yourself. You pay to play in this game.

** Rant OFF **

As a RECALL, they will perform the work regardless of what you've done to your vehicle. They might give you crap about your mods, but the rubber hits the road when you have a warranty item that needs to be addressed. At that point in time they must document that a modification you made to your vehicle caused the failure that you are seeking warranty relief for.

Let's face it, what the heck does it matter what the d*** w** at your local dealership says about your warranty if you never have something that would need fixing under warranty?

Actually, Mitsubishi won't sell you the recall kit for self installation. I tried that already.

They might have a "kit" number for the recall part that is accounted for differently than the regular stock (and that they cannot sell to you), but call the parts department and ask what is the new part number for the fuel rail (you'll probably want to go ahead and get new o-rings while you're in there).

To all those saying "only if the mod caused the problem". That can almost point to any mod causing the problem. They could say adding a drop-in filter caused the problem with the transmission because it added horsepower that it wasn't designed to take. Dealers are jerks and I'm not taking my chances. I went back to stock yesterday and am taking my car in now. Man it's a *****ing taking intercooler pipes and an intercooler off. Then it has to go back on when I get back /sigh.

I to just had the recall done today. I asked if it was a problem If I had mods and they said NO. All stealerships are different but unless your going in for a problem with your car and it could be caused by a mod there is no issue. Even if you replaced your motor but are using the stock fuel rail and hardware (not that anyone would) they would have to replace it for you free of charge due to the liability. Obviously I was being facetious but you get the just of what I'm saying. Anyone with mods is good to go!!!!!!!!

Legally they HAVE TO CHANGE that part. But dealerships are notorious for taking pictures of your engine bay, then later using that down the road to void warranties. They do whatever they can to get out of doing warranty work.

Why would they void it if it hasn't broken anything? Also they would have to prove that the mods caused the issue. If you guys come across this don't let the dealer take you for fools. Quote the magnusson moss act and state you will get an attorney to follow up with them. That's illegal.
