200-300 is the going rate on the o2 housing install. Well worth it in my opinion, especially if one or more bolts break taking off the stock housing.

And it seems like bolts breaking is SOP when you take off the stock housing.

And latest from AMS is that they're still waiting for parts so they can fabricate the downpipes.

Go do it a couple times, once with no bolts breaking, and once with a bolt breaking in the hotside. Then set a price.

$2-300 is MORE than fair IMO.

Yup, $200-$300 is fair. Figure between $50 to $80 an hour for a reputable shop to use one of their more experienced techs and their lift, power tools etc. and about 4 hours for the pro to do the job. Anyone that says $100 has obviously never done this.

PAY THE MONEY and get someone else to do it. Save yourself from the headaches, the yelling, the screaming, the cussing, and the first aid kit. 200-300 bucks is well worth it. Plus, if you take it to a reputable shop who had performed the installation before, they could probably get it done within 4 hours.

These guys have given solid advice. Experience, and possibly a lift are the most valuable tools for this job. I have one OT question for those who have completed the install: were you able to reatain the stock heat sheilds for o2?

I believe that one of the selling points for the AMS downpipe is that it allows you to retain the stock heat shield.

HBSpeed - I'm going to be out your way to have you guys tune it anyway on 11/20. What if I come out sooner and get you to install the AMS kit? How much for the full exhaust install (kit here: http://www.amsperformance.com/cart/A...st-System.html). You can PM me if you want.

I was trying to not be a little girl about it all; I've worked on my Type-R a lot, but this sounds a lot more involved than anything on that car.

Not only does it allow the retention of the stock heat shield, it also has a casted mounting bung to support the shield as opposed to it just hanging on by the bungs on the exhaust manifold.

And it looks like they're shipping downpipes again.

Tools I used:
Large Socket Wrench
Medium Socket Wrench
Small Socket Wrench
Assortment of metric and hex fittings for the above
1 can of PB blaster
A lot of Stress relieving words

Take your time, PB blaster everything once engine is cold or almost cold, let sit for at least an hour, especially the 02 sensors, I basically threaded mine by forcing it to back out.

I'm 19 and tackled the job in about 6 hours alongside the testpipe, did NOT break ANY bolts, look up my tips in the Engine/Turbo/Drivetrain Section, they will help you figure out how to get the bolts out.
