Mine went out today too.

How much did you pay for a replacement?

I sucked the Honeycomb out of mine at 38psi LOL it was literally crumpled to the size of gumball.

Yet another reason to switch to AEM

You will know when ur car drivers like lancer and idles 2k rpm. Ive noticed that there is alot of people whos sensor went bad and were using HKS panel filter. Mine went bad as well with same filter.

my maf is not a full out problem .!! i have the K&N 3" filter
and once every whenever my tranny goes out of wack ..... so i park to the side and stop the car and restart it and drive .... and everything after is well!! i was told it was oil on the detector/sensor or dirt/dust so,

ways to go pro-active on this is simple clean your filters reg, and put the proper oil amount after cleaning, since i clean mine every 2 to 3 weeks everything is cool.!!

Ah, mine must be going out as well. I'm getting airflow reading spikes at WOT that are really screwing with fuel and spark delivery (high load spikes - rich, timing pull ensues).

Cleaned the MAF to no avail except my MAF readings are now consistently higher. *shrugs*

I'm now trying to decide between junkyard, remanufactured, or brand new OEM.

So mine was indeed bad. Not a single related code, I just started to notice the behavior I described above. I purchased a new MAF from the dealer for $155 and now everything is great!

Here are before and after data-logs for reference. The "bad" MAF data log is even after I carefully cleaned the thing with CRC MAF cleaner...

Bad MAF

You can see how terribly IDC was spiking because of the airflow reading spikes due to the bad MAF.

New MAF

And after the brand new MAF, everything is hunky dory. The signals still could use some help... so I'm probably going to get a Sun Auto Hyper Ground kit like I did for my other car (it actually really does help smooth these signals out).

I have almost 4k miles on my HKS panel filter and no MAF issues (yet).
