exhaust wrap smell?

I wrapped a couple sections of my cat back to protect the surroundings. My question is how long will it take to burn in so it doesn't stink or smoke??? And is this normal?? First time I drove it I stopped and thought the car was on fire, but just smoking.

After I installed my wrapped downpipe I went for a drive. It smoked for maybe an hour at the most, each time I stopped the car. After the smoke went away, the smell went away shortly after. When I drove the car the next day, I noticed the smoke and smell were gone.

x2 it freaked me out seeing black smoke billowing out of my Naca duct when I was stopped at some lights.
