"Plug and Play" EBCS/AEM Tru Boost Question

Question time:

I'm looking for a boost controller for my X, be it an upgraded EBCS or the AEM TruBoost.

Now, for clarification, the AEM TruBoost is, for all intents and purposes, a manual boost controller with a digital interface, right? You can't use an AEM TruBoost + the onboard EBCS. It's basically a pretty MBC with an LED display, right?

For both of them though, an upgraded EBCS (GrimmSpeed, Perrin, EvoDynamics, whoever) and the AEM TruBoost, can they be installed (or plugged in, as the case may be with the replacement EBCSes) and used without a tune?

IE, if I plug in a Perrin EBCS, hook it up correctly, does the car need retuned to be functional and drivable, or does the ECU just continue to send the same signals, the Perrin interperts them, and everything is hunky dorey until we turn the boost up via the ECU, and the Perrin does a superior job?

No to question 2. If you plug in a boost control solenoid and hook it up correctly you will still need to get it tuned. Without a tune the BCS will cause the car to overboost under load. You CAN however theoretically plug it in and drive out of boost (in VAC) to your tuner....but because its easily installed in minutes, we recomend just driving your car to your tuner and installing it there! Hope that helps!
