But a ceramic coating like HPC's is garbage. SwainTech is legit, so are a few others.
yeah, well what I was saying and maybe I didn't read his first post was that a lot of people get stuff ceramic coated thinking that it's going to last the life of the car and it won't.

This was my primary concern. I looked in to this and really came down to the conclusion that with the high temperatures you would most likely end up having to re-coat the thing every so often.

I think on a non-turbo setup it will last fine, but not with the high temperatures on a turbo setup.

That was my impression at first. After readin all these posts I think I will save my money and put it towards something else.

From reading the manufactures site, I think its not about temperature, but its about the steel expanding more than the coating, causing it to crack up and fall off.

If you use Swaintech on anything cast, it'll last practically forever. I had my cast turbo manifold on my Nissan coated with Swaintech's white lightning thermal barrier, and while it does change color a little (probably dirt/oil/etc), it's still fine 9 years later.

After 40k+ miles, yes it definitely is being effected by the heat. The outer white layer has also cracked a little as well. However, the gray base coat layer which adheres to the metal is still perfect.

I drive this car every day, it's been on the dyno multiple times, and I definitely put the power to good use when I drive. I'm not disappointed at all and I'm still very confident in it's effectiveness.

PPI did the porting on on the manifolds for my car/Swain coated. BBE on the intake and White Lightning on the exhaust mainifold-hotside-O2 housing. The drop in engine bay temps was worth every penny. And the stock EX. mani. is showing some discoloration/chipping after a few track seasons and 36K miles. I am very tempted to BBE coat the new CBRD I/C before it gets installed as well as the intake pipeing. Overall, I have been very pleased with the Swain coatings as they work well. Pete
