hey i was skeptical at first....but when i received it...and installed it...it fit great....maybe needs a little bit of muscle where the muffler and mid pipe goes together....but i didn't have to modify anything to make it fit...i'd say its worth $125 for 3 inch piping! its not a small section either...its VERY long
i'm also running stock catback....i don't plan to change that out because I want to keep the sleeper aspect of the car....and especially avoid un wanted attention.....i know i am missing out on about 15whp cuz of the catback....but i don't mind....i'd rather pocket the $700 on a catback and use that towards something else...

You can save the money of the catback. We did a test with 2 stock EVO X with stock MAP.
One with catback and one without catback.
The catback put out minimal more torque and hp in the mid section but for such much money you should only buy a catback if you like it loud !!
Power is not really better with catback... The stock catback is "NO" restrictor !! Only the cat and downpipe with O2 housing... downpipe without O2 housing is also no + on power..
attached file is in German but the lines on the graph are multilingual

Peter
BTW: +1 for the rexpeed downpipe !! Great work for this amount of money

i'm posting a review also if you don't mine OP...just wanna get some more feedback out there for everyone else.
i just installed mine last night with the help of my buddy...the install was holy crap painful! i removed the heatshield, strut tower bar, passenger wheel, and under brace the night before and sprayed all the bolts with pb blaster and let it soak there until about 2pm yesterday when i got home from work...then started taking the stock o2 housing out. the spraying help A LOT because it made it easier to take the bolts out. all in all it took us about 6 hours (with breaks in between, taking our time too). the fit and quality was excellent. i didn't have to get on top of the car to get that 1 bolt out everyone talks about. i'm pretty sure the pb blaster helped on that as well. we got better access to all the o2 housing bolts by taking the o2 housing heat shield (the strong metal one that wrapped the oem o2 housing), it's a must because that's the only way you can get to the nut that faces the driver side...and then we took the stock dp out from the o2 housing to have more room to reach the bolts (we didnt' do this until we got the the last nut that faced the driver side, 2 or 3 of the bolts you can take out from the top and the other 2 you can take out reaching from the passenger side wheel well). we were lucky because the nut everyone dreaded was actually fairly easy to take out, i didn't have to lie or sit on top of the engine and we didn't have to take the uicp out like some i've heard did.
as for power, i took it out and first thing i noticed was how smooth and strong acceleration was. everything was definitely less restrictive. sound was almost the same, a lil bit deeper rumble but almost the same. it's definitely the sound i'm looking for in a tbe set up: i didn't want a loud car, so i have the magnaflow catback, t1r resonated tp, and the rexpeed o2/dp. i would definitely recommend this set up to anyone looking to stay on quiet/attention away from cops set up, and can't afford the AMS widemouth dp. i am going to a muffler shop today to have the bottleneck replaced on the magnaflow catback. i couldn't do hard pulls because the car isn't tuned yet...i only revved to about 5k rpm but that alone showed power gains on the butt dyno. i'm definitely satisfied
.
i installed all the heatshields back to make the engine bay look stock...so there's still the heatshield that covers the manifold, you can put it back using 3 bolts instead of 5 on the stock set up (the other 2 bolted on the oem o2 housing).
one thing i learned on the install if you're planning on doing it yourself...if you take the strut tower bar out, i recommend putting the bolts back on the struts just so when you jack the car up on 4 stands the wheels won't drop off the wheel well and you don't have to worry about the trouble of pushing them back up and messing up alignment.
hopefully my review helps some out who are worried about the uninstalling the oem parts out...i've come back and edited this post about 3 times now in 5 minutes everytime i remember something i could've done different or something i want to be prepared for if i was the one reading the review and preparing for the install. i was planning on taking pictures during the whole process but we just got too busy with the "holy cow how do reach that bolt????" and the "awww crap this thing's not coming out freakin' A!!!!" moments...

if you open up your stock turbo housing, it matches exactly the size of rexpeed's o2 downpipe...i am not sure why AMS went with such a huge mouth....but obviously you don't need it because the turbine and wastegate aren't even that large....
there is no problem with restrictions with the rexpeed unit

There is a great book by Corky bell called "Maximum boost" I highly recommend everyone interested in learning about turbocharged cars reads this.
In short you want the largest area possible near the turbocharger because of the exhaust gas temperature. When gasses leave the turbo they are at their hottest and the least dense. As they cool they will become more dense and take up less space. For this reason you can take an exhaust that starts out larger and slowly taper it down to flow more than one that starts out smaller but maintains that diameter throughout. This is because the gasses are cooling and becoming more dense as they flow downstream. The large bellmouth type opening in the AMS Widemouth downpipes are conducive for that hot air to cool easier and actually optimize flow. In short having a smaller section at the turbo exit flowing into that same diameter piping can cause the adverse back pressure effect. There is a reason why our pipe has such a great increase in power. Bigger is better behind the turbo

Again I highly recommend everyone pick up the book Maximum boost...its a GREAT read!
hope that helps
Eric
Reading about the installs I'm a bit apprehensive about having my local shop do it. I have had them do exhaust work for me before, catback for my X abd a TBE on my GTI, but the DP switch here looks daunting.
