What a f*cking joke that statement right there is.

Imagine if Toyota only warrantied/recalled the cars that the gas pedal stuck. Oh wait, they'd have to find the parts they were supposed to replace among the burnt carnage that used to be the most reliable car on the road.

For not recalling the relay issue. If people have upgraded their relay everytime a new one came out (blue, green, etc) then they have spent $100 on relays already.

Agreed. I just ordered the blue relay kit from SSP and I already had the green one. I live in the North so I figure it's not worth the risk. I've got a built motor so I can't take chances...Mitsu will do nothing for me if this motor goes.

I'm joining the conversation a bit late but heeellllll yes 400whp is safe on stock interanals. I'm running 605whp on my daily driving tune and yes the internals are stock.

Slightly back on topic....why is it that the only company that appears to have had this issue with the X is TTP?

You better knock on wood...

It has nothing to do with TTP or anything they're doing wrong. Fact of the matter is, your stock block with basic forged pistons a top ring gap of 0.007-0.011" was not built for 605 WHP.

Nor were the rods built for the amount of torque required to make that power at ~7000 RPM.

I would be more concerned about the rods than the pistons, but i agree, it will not last.

My brother just called me from Canada. His 2008 Evo X GSR with 6000km has zero compression in cylinder #4. Its sitting at a Mitsu dealer now waiting to see what Mitsu will do, if anything for him. The dealer is going to bat for him but ultimately its up to the DSR to approve the work or not and replace the engine. The symptoms are just as described in this thread. That is all I can say as this process is underway at the moment.

I remember having the same conversation with someone about a week before Gates' stock motor let go. They stay together until they don't. The cars haven't been around long enough for us to have examples of motors that have stood up to XXX hp/tq for any meaningful length of time.

Yeah, that ^^^

I'll start listening when people are like, "I've been running 500 hp for 30,000 miles and no issues."

I'm sticking to the ~400 tq limit the 4g63's go for.

Well finally got my *** in gear tonight and got all oiled up, from the car obviously And pulled all the undertray panels off and picked up pieces.

I couldn't see a hole in the block and the oil pan looks alright from the underside anyway.

There was a sensor going into the motor that had broken off, hopefully it isn't the knock sensor It didn't have the connector on it and it's right under the intake manifold going into the motor.

Here you go, i can get better pictures of this stuff, these are just prelims.

Nothing a little Elmer's Glue won't fix!

That looks like catastrophic failure...
