Help!!! Rust inside intercooler piping!!!

Hey all just got back from Iraq and my car is having a clutch and FW installed as well as an xtreme boost O2 DP. Well I just got off the phone with the shop and they said my intercooler piping was completely filled with rust. I have the ETS full intercooler kit with piping purchased new from ETS in 08. I thought this was supposed to be stainless steel?? Anywho, I have to go see what the story is tommorow morning and take some pics. Will keep you updated.

Jesse

I think an IX owner had this problem. Since then I think ETS has been using a higher quality stainless to combat this problem. I'm sure if you contact them they should be able to help. It has to be said though it not really what you want to see when you take the pipes off.

A little while ago they used to have 2 options of either mild steel or stainless steel. I take it you chose the cheaper option without even thinking....

The older versions of their piping is a mild steel not stainless as advertised back a few years ago. Call them up and let them know, they were doing a buy back type of thing for a while. Although you still had to pay some to get the updated piping.

I believe thats why the have the V1 and V2 LICP "names". They give you some crap about how its "too late" maybe..... but i think you have a legitimate excuse being over seas and all. Just be polite and explain to them if there are any issues.

Thanks for serving sir!

Edit: maybe it wasnt false advertising as I stated above. It was more of an option thing as SyZyGy1394 said....Not sure i didnt get mine direct from ETS.

ETS has been pretty good with customer service IMO. I dont think they are going to hassle you about doing the trade in for the V2/stainless. No one uses mild steel for anything anymore (except Megan Racing).

It's not a big deal, we use to advertise that we sold mild steel on coated piping w/ the option for polished stainless steel. If you have rusted mild steel piping and want to upgrade to stainless we can do it for you. You need to be the original purchaser though.

The price is $150.00 to upgrade a complete piping kit and $75.00 for upper or lower. $75.00 for an intake.

We won't hassle you about it. We understand how some people may not know the difference between mild and stainless.

The rust is not an issue on the west coast, it seems it's more of a Midwest/East Coast issue with the way they salt the roads and the increase in humidity.

I spoke with the customers shop and they are sending the pipes in for upgrade!

Everything we build is now STAINLESS STEEL! No mild steel in the shop!

Thanks!

Michael

Should I be concerned if my LICP has a little bit of rust on the inside? My UICP is fine, but the lower pipe has some rust on the inside.
