Final Drive Owners

Not sure how that would fly in a daily driver cruising in 5th but how noisy could the final drive be when the exhaust/engine is already mega loud in these cars?
Hey Guys,
It took me a bit longer to get my final drive installed than originally projected. With a 8 days of driving on the final drive behind me here are my initial thoughts. For starters let me say I have a tendency to drive around in the highest gear possible on my X the installation of the final drive has changed this behavior. 1st behaves much the same as the stock ratio though for my day to day driving tendencies, though the similarities stop there. Unlike the stock ratio which has you throwing 2nd before you pass the starting tree on the 1/4 mile 1st now has a solid place in my heart. Without actually driving the new ratio the best description I can provide you is to have you imagine your stock 3rd gear as 2nd; stock 4th as 3rd; stock 5th as 4th (without the whole disgusting issue of dropping out of the power band); and 5th gear now actually serves as a no kidding overdrive type gear. I can't wait to actually see how this changes my trap times at the track.
On the negative side there is an annoying whirring/whining sound that is audible in the driving compartment in 4th and 5th gears. The sound can be heard over my abnoxiously loud buschur exhaust (need a quiter exhaust). Fortunately my very easy fix was to simply turn on the radio. With the radio volume level at 14 (i have the navi system) I was no longer able to hear the sound. My other problem is that the whirring sound appears to causing my knock sensor to pick up some artificial knock. Going to see if I can't find some method of isolating the knock sensor from the noise coming off the driveline..once that is done life is good.
All in all I have a very positive take on the final drive.

Good feedback. Buschur with the conversion on their GT35R kit made about mid 11 secs, similar to there times on a Blouch with stock trans. Gump, I wonder how you are going to do.
Hope to have an answer for you Sunday morning poon. The car goes back in for tuning on saturday to see if we can find a work around on that knock sensor issue. If all is well and the wx holds I'll have her out on the track sunday morning.
Bump for any updates. Gump? Anyone else? Maybe someone with more like 350-400 whp?
I do a lot of highway miles and this could be good, if the noise issue isn't too bad. Could also push top speed up to ~170, which could be a bonus...Hypothetically

but I absolutely love my final drive now that I have a few miles behind it. The whirring noise that it once produced went away after about 100 miles of driving and I have cracked 140mph in 4th gear. Someday I'd like to run it out in 5th and see where she tops out at but thats going to take a nice long controlled airstrip run for me.
