Hesitation, sputtering, idle issues
Car does same exact thing. I have 2004 Evo 8 base model. full turbo back 3" exhaust and Type R Greddy BoV Everything else stock.
Usually when I'm getting on it in 3rd / 4th gear around 5-6k rpm. Through the " Service Engine Soon " code so i hooked a computer up to it. The code i got is P0234 - W/G System.
I was told its running rich with the weather getting colder etc or some **** but i don't know. Plan to get a re-flash like the previous guy and see what it does.

i had a simular problem, from an idle car would sputter till it got past 2000 rpm. my evo made good power and ran great other than in that certian rpm range. the tune i had got had a corrupt file and didnt know was to do at those rpms. i had to start from scrath and retune. i do not know if this is the problem, but maybee it will help
No, I have not corrected the problem, was going to order a tactrix cable and log it with hope of fixing it. I replaced my BOV and it went away for about a week then came back, makes me think thats the issue. With minor driving habit adjustment I no longer have the issue. Going up hills in 5th gear under load and feathering off the gas pedal replicates the problem consistently.
BOV makes sense, another thing to consider is 5th gear + throttle will give you the highest amount of load on the engine. It's possible your tune isn't compensating for the load tables properly. Short answer, see your tuner soon.
Maybe your tune needs adjusted so your car doesnt think it's over boosting. Adjust the delay on how long to assume over boosting is over boosting. That's possibly why you only see it in fifth. Because any other gear you probably go through it fast enough that the over boost had not be recognized.
Essentially increase the time the ecu waits to signal its over boosting. And boost leak check.
