AMS CAI leads to water in LICP

I searched and found little information on this topic. Here is my problem. I have a GSR with AMS CAI and JDM Mesh Foglight insert. I had my LICP off recently and found water in it. I know this isn't the best thing for my car and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if there is a way to prevent this from happening. I think I saw a cone style air filter cover that keeps water out a while ago, but I can't remember where from of if it helps.
Thanks

Wonder if you can run a deflector from the mesh screen to to divert the water/debris somewhere else.

most cold air intakes that run down towards the bottom of a car will suck up water. Thats why in wet conditions your suppose to change it out or take it off.

before buying the CAI i talked to AMS and they said they have never had such issues. Would be interesting to hear their side of the story on this.

Did you have any water in your intercooler as well? I had the AMS CAI and had no water in my LICP.

you should take it off in wet conditions or you should get an Injen Hydro Shield, im pretty sure it would still fit the K&N filter.

after i hydrolocked in my old car, i told myself i'm never buying another CAI again.

you can always run a bypass in the middle of the inlet pipe, but at that point you might as well go with a short intake.

Got down and and removed mine as well. I dont have the mesh grill and thought about getting it and still would after reading this but I have zero water in the LICP.

My question is the air is sucked in, drove through the compressor thru the UICP into the FMIC and then rested into your LICP and your didnt notice a lack of performance? thats alot of water and a nice distance to travel. something is def not right

i believe injen make a hydroshield, which lets air through to the filter but not water.

http://www.injen.com/docs/products/listing.asp?pcc=rp

i hope this helps

I am really concerned about this also.

Myth #1:
It's a turbo car!!!! the water will vaporize in the turbo due to the heat!!! (True?)

Myth #2:
DUUDE stop driving your car right into the river!!! Your cold air intake needs to be submerged into water completely before getting a hydrolock!!!!1!!one (True?)

Question #1:
Would stock airbox cause the same problem? and what happen during a snow day? I don't want a hole in my engine block.

Experts!

Lets think about this for a second. For water to enter your LICP through your CAI it must first pass through your turbo and combustion chamber. Water in your LICP is not caused by running a CAI. A hydro-locked motor could be caused by a CAI.

???

Thats what I was getting at with all the path of the flows i listed besides combustion chamber but that was a pretty much known fact.
