CAIs are real close to the ground, and in some occassions some rides are so low to the ground that you wouldn't be able to fit a sprite can underneath it vertically...

People who "inject water" to cool down the charge of the air is done with a kit... A kit which mixes "METHANOL" with distilled water...! GOOGLE METHANOL PAL...! Go to the AEM website and educate thyself...! Then again judging on that water solely enters the head doubling as nitrous, you might know a tad bit more than us here...!

Here some knowledge from a noob to this site: Water/Methanol Injection
When these two are mixed (via a kit which includes, injection pump, gallon, injection filter, ect...) during extraction towards the intake tract it changes its form from liquid to vapor. In turn heat is pulled from the charged air when entering the intake tract, which lowers the temperature of the air charge and slows the burn rate which helps to avoid detonation. The outcome is higher boost levels, and more aggressive ignition can be used to extract more power from the engine safely... ect...

P.s By the way in order for water to solely evaporate while making it into your CAI, every single drop or molecule of water must already be at a sweltering 212 degrees farenheit, and if not your engine better be the above Xs 3+ in order to vaporize every single drop before it enters your head... yeaaaah... Have a nice one...!

IDK maybe i'm a retard??? But intake= ingestion; to take in; haul in; pull in... So when you're driving a w/e speed/s it is that your going your intake just maintains the same constant flow it has while ideling!?!? Hey who knows... Call me an a$$clown if you'd like, but drive(not at 5-15mph) your ride(with CAI still attached not disconnected) through a puddle(not one placed there by anyone pouring a bottle of water on the ground) while raining and let us test our already proven theory...! Then come on back here and let us know what happens..! I will make sure to start a thread to collect charitable funds to buy you another block...!

I've driven with a CAI on my car for the past 3 years (1 with the evo and 2 with my subaru) Both lowered from stock, (subaru was slammed) and both in severe rain. Both cars ran fine. Evo still runs fine. Unless your driving through a foot of water, you wont have issues. And if you are driving through a foot of water you need to turn the **** around.

With the right heat shield, heat soak shouldnt be an issue. Sticking the filter in harms way (closer to the ground where water can get to it) is not a good idea. Think about it..

Not to be a$$ or anything but.. C'mon seriously... CAI + rainy weather/wet conditions is a red big flag its common knowledge. Now if you wish to keep being hard headed and keep it on then you were informed. If you want to testify that you've had yours on for so and so amount of years and have had zero issues than awesome for you. But really is theres going to be a whole thread about how you got water traces in your engine because you decided to buy a cold air intake and drive in the rain?

Simple fix... when it rains take out your CAI. If you bought one and all you live around is water then you should of done some homework. If you sold your stock intake box or threw it away then you should do the same with your car. Its like watching someone gun aluminum lug nuts onto there car then complaining about how come they don't come off. Then calling the company asking for a work around. I dont know about others but 30k + car should be treated like one.

after reading all the posts id like to say, as a resident of south florida and a new owner of the ams cai that idk if the water/puddle thing is entirely tru. i mean i installed my part on dec 7th and i live in a flood zone, on dec 9th it poured and my car was going through puddles just fine and not an ounce on performance decrease. if anything the cars running better then ever. but thats just my 2 cents.

i mean if it were SO bad for u engine would ams let alone seperate companies be selling them? idts solely for the reason that they would like to keep business

I don't think this has to do with CAI at all. I mean think about it? the CAI suck the air+water in it [if any] thru the turbo+UICP+intercooler to UICP and what left? It might has to do with CAI, but I think water should evaporated already after exiting the turbine chamber. I could be wrong.
