New TBE new tune???

I also posted this in the tuning section as I wasn't sure which was more appropriate. Mods delete one of the threads if need be... :

This might sound like a silly question, but was wondering if I replace my Perrin Turboback with a different TBE (single exit), would I need a new tune. Or a turboback is just a turboback? Thanks guys.

I doubt you would need a tune, but as OneCrzy said it would be ideal.

Check out this post from when Bushur was testing exhausts: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...x-exhaust.html

Thanks for the link Ryan, I don't know how I passed up that whole discussion.

I wouldn't be too concerned. Just wait until your next round of mods to go in for another tune. I know people who have done it with no ill affects.

My only suggestion is if you are changing the O2 housing at all, if the design is different, then you may want a retune. But if you are staying with the stock O2, then I wouldn't be concerned at all.

I considered that as well, but after debating I think I'll stay with the stock O2 housing. If anything I suppose I can just get a retune be Ivey since he's local to me. Thanks for the help.

Mr. David told me to keep my money and business when I inquired about a mail-in tune service option because he didn't want to guess what kind of "odd and ends" of TBE components I had. I think his tone was worse than that, he wasn't apparently interested in helping me learn the art of modding a turbo and tuning. But he did get the point through to me that all TBE's are not created equal and the tune can/should vary based on actual measures as noted in the other thread. So I'll take the free part from him, advice. And spend my money with AMS!

Yeah, the AFR's are leaner with the bigger exhausts. I'm at the borderline Ah, but the gas mileage can make me smile. 25mpg or even a bit higher if I don't romp it, at 70-80mph interstate driving.
