Anyone Tried only a Fp Black?

I was just wondering if anyone ( including fp) has tried bolting on any of their turbos really and seeing the gains. I mean i am talking everything stock: intake downpipe, ect. Well maybe a tune and a wastegate. Becuase i know there are stock looking upgrades.

But what i am getting at is Sleeper???

I mean the fq400 would kind of be around this same line wouldnt it?

And do you think you could get away with warranty work with this?

Idk just a thought

Would work just fine.. Wouldnt make power lb for lb like a modded Evo would and i dont think youll get away with warranty work with an 80mm Cover stamped FP on it..

Nobody has done it because its a terrible idea...... the fq-400 has a whole slew of parts beyond a turbo and is obviously tuned to make proper ues of them. As far as warranty work... HA. You probably wouldnt be able to get warranty work done on a stock car let alone one that you had a black on. The black is capable of the 500-600 awhp range and that would break a ton of stock engine and drivetrain components real quick....

a stock intake wouldn't even fit on an FP black right?

you would need is a 3 inch intake and inlet....stock UICP will fit fine...although you would want to upgrade that....stock FMIC would get heat soaked to **** too.....the stock down o2 down pipe would fit fine but would choke the turbo.....the main cat is super restrictive....as well as the catback muffler portion

so all in all...not a real good idea....i would say at the VERY LEAST, you want to run a 3 inch inlet/intake and 3 inch downpipe (why not throw a downpipe while you have the turbo off?)....you can keep everything else stock and run low boost

Ok I think I didn't make my point. I'm not looking to make 600 hp. I'm Saying would you gain horsepower. I thought the turbos looked stock though.

Kind of what I am saying will you pick up hp just bolting on one of there turbos. I no u can't max out the turbo potential but would you pick up hp?

You said "tune" so that's far from just bolting on the turbo and running with it. The Evo has load-based boost control, so you really wouldn't gain much power unless you tuned those boost tables to target higher loads. If you kept the boost pressure constant between the stock turbo setup and the FP Black, you may gain a little bit of power, yes, but that's not really a desirable use of a 68 lb/min turbo.

With what you're proposing, an FP Green - for example - would be a much better fit and cheaper as well. The least I'd do with an FP Black would be 25 psi across the board, but that would make some pretty nice power.

I am not 100% sure on this one....but you can save money by going FP Green and just running low boost....it would be similar to FP Black running low boost

I know the FP Black costs around $1900 and the Green $1400 range....so if you don't plan to run supporting modifications, just go Green instead
