im using Royal purple, i use it in my vette, i did like that Dsport did a write up on it as well, i cant stand when people say that race oils are just lighter weight oils, that doesnt add up.

Please no one listen to this statement. The only time oil is oil is when you drive your car back and forth to work without going anywhere near redline and never having high engine temps.

Having a turbo'd car is very different than having a standard Honda Civic. If you value the life of your turbo you'd be wise to read up and change your way of thinking.

I am a Motul kind of guy. Because I have a seriously heavy foot and my car sees redline at least once per driving experience I use Motul 15w50. I also use Motul brake fluid and Carbonetics LSD Oil 85w90.

as we speak, my car is currently using the Greddy GR-3 oil. i can't feel the difference between Mobil1 and Greddy. (maybe blackstone can help?) it's just weird to see an oil that is green-ish in color. no issues here and it's good on the 405. =)

Have any of you guys Tried the European Formula Mobil 1 it's supposed to be a 0W40. Showed really good results with the Twin Turbo VQ35/37 Guys (350Z 370Z) Oil came up as one of the top oils according to Black Stone Oil Lab. through various forum members sending in oil for testing. I'm going to run this on my X when I buy it after break in period.

Krackster: Did you use the same oil in the TC and rear diff of your IX as you do now in your X?

Can't go wrong with any real synthetic for your car, especially if it is a DD and few or little track time. I'm partial to Redline, and currently run that in my '11 Evo X. 5w30 and 0w30, and will experiment with heavier/hybrid mixes later. Using redline, motul, M1 0w40 also very good.
Do some justice in finding the right one by testing them and sharing results.

I'm in the middle of this right now and will post all that I find from my tests. Only have 2100 miles on it now, but many will follow here shortly as this will be my track monster.

Just because an engine gained 5hp by switching to royal purple doesnt mean its better in any way. You're not going to feel 5-10 hp or whatever it was anyway, PLUS you should never believe a magazine. I would rather have better engine protection than a measely couple horsepower. If you do some real research you will find that royal purple is really only good for racing applications where they change it frequently, since it breaks down very quickly and you don't want that in a street car.

If I ever was going to use Mobil 1 it's going to be the Extended Protection (or Protection?) which came out alot better in the tests. But Mobil 1 isn't as good as it used to be since they had to reformulate for government standards (took out some zinc and phosporus and other stuff I think) a few years ago. Shell Rotella is a good oil, I'm using the T6 synthetic in the purple gallon bottle which is a 5w40 which seems perfect for me in the winter and most stores have it pretty cheap. Sometimes advance auto has it onsale for an awesome price too but havent seen it on sale in a while.

Hello,

For protection the turbo, I am referring to the information by FP :
http://store.forcedperformance.net/m...otor%20Oil.pdf

According to the document, some royal purples ( such as XPR 5W-30 ) has advantage to protect our turbo, I think.

1- While starting up your car at 75 F, mid-winter in Florida, which of these synthetic oils provides the least startup resistance, minimal battery and starter motor load?
A- 0W-20
B- 0W-30
C- 0W-40
D- 0W-50
E- They are all exactly the same
The correct answer is A- 0W-20.

It's good write up, but confuse the hell outta me....
Just wondering I should use 0W-30 oil........

I use this, and it's purrrfect for the X...

ETA: Just to stay on topic.. I actually use Mobil 1 5w-30 fully synthetic as recommended in the owner's manual and on the engine cover.
