I've used the mobil 1 oil since day one but ran into a guy (and several VERY happy customers) who recommended a guy who custom blends & formulates his own oil. I've purchased 2 oil change worth (each can last 10k+ miles) so we'll see. I get analysis done on every oil change so I'll have a good idea what's going on inside my motor...

I just saw a poster at the dealer showing the recommended factory fill for evo 10s is now either 0w-30 or 0w-40 and lancers are supposed to run 0w-20. It seems good old clipse3gt is way ahead of the game... i am probably going to switch to mobile 1 0w40 next change.

That would make perfect sense in the climate where you live.

Interesting....

0w40 is used in many Benz turbo engines, and it is approved for many VW engines.

[QUOTE=DGlory;8848111]Transmission oil question. Apparently Redline has recently (Sept 2010) released a new MT-85 transmission fluid. I wonder if using this alone might be superior to the redline cocktail....

hey any1 got more on the new MT85 for the tranny, BTW i used CASTROL EDGE 5w 30

Castrol 0w30 for Mercedes is also sold at walmart too, which some people swear by. It's more about finding an oil that works well, affordable and readily available.
I am using the redline cocktail... But that's a whole other discussion.

I use the cheapest oil i can find and ive never had any problems. Only thing i do is use 5w30 in the winter since its cold and 10w30 in the summer since its hot. Runs like a top. Never did believe the hype and have more money in my pocket.
