New Turbo Kit for the X?
New Turbo Kit for the X?
So I've recently picked up 09' RS and was doing some shopping. Have you guys seen this kit from Garrett?

I have experience with other turbocharged setups but am still getting familiar with my Evo. Do I need any other mods to run this thing? Such as fuel upgrades? Thanks...

Definitely injectors and obviously a tune. I don't know if you would HAVE TO do anything else but it wouldn't be the best setup by any means. I would get a walbro pump, injectors, and a downpipe/O2 atleast. If it was me, I would be getting a full turbo back exhaust too. Probably a bigger intercooler to prevent heatsoak as well.

Agreed. You should pass on that. From what I have been researching the GT3076R is a bit laggy for the X. Just what I have perceived when reading up. The CBRD and forced performance turbo's are what i would choose from.
Hiboost seems to have done just fine with it at One Lap of America:

Here's a dyno from Dent Sport Garage comparing the FP Red and GT3076R:

Same boost, but better flow in the turbine side accounts for the improved torque.
Yes, they did have the wastegate arm and valve failures, but it appears to have been corrected now based on what I read over on EvoXforums.

I also got in touch with Elliot at Turblown Engineering and he def. recommended the full exhaust, fuel upgrades, etc. He also mentioned that he will also have the new GTX35R turbos in 2 weeks and gave me a full quote for that route.

Looking at the specs this new version 35R has bigger compressor & turbine wheels compared to that FP Black kit. The new compressor design should give it a boost as well. I might have to run it at a lower PSI and take it in stages if I go this route. Do you guys know of anyone running these GTX turbos on a evo X?
