I've been doing alot of reading about using 4g64's for a block and I want to try it.

AWD says they have 4g64 cores for around $500.

I see lancershop has a wiseco stroker kit for $1500.

so $2000 and I have a 2.4L? Anything need to be done to the 4g64 to handle that kit?

This is an Evo VIII I have.

Any other tips would be greatly appreciated.

You would need standard size pistons, a 2.4L is not a stroker engine.

 

Ok, So use 85mm pistons .. got it ..

87mm pistons as standard bore on the 4g64 is 86.5mm

Hence why you use a 100mm stroke crank like you do on a 2.3 but get a 2.4 dues to the 2mm bigger pistons.

 

Not what I'm saying at all, stroker pistons are 6mm shorter than standard pistons on 4G63 stroker builds. The 2.4L is not a stroker so don't get a stroker kit. A 100mm(factory 4G64) crank and non-stroker 86.5mm(factory 4G64 size) pistons are what you need unless the block need machining then go for .20 over(87mm) pistons.
