Fuel setup advice - E85 + Green + 214Bs
Fuel setup advice - E85 + Green + 214Bs
Thanks in advance , I've read a ton here and on the other forum but can't get a good consensus.
As stated - Evo X, running FP Green and cams, probably around 27-28psi or so.
I'm looking to go with E85 soon.
Fuel pump - will a Walbro 255 cut it? Should i get more overhead with say the DW 300. I'd prefer a single in-tank solution if possible.
Injectors - I'm guessing 1100s? Will 1000s be enough? Or should i go bigger with say 1300s?
Comments/thoughts appreciated. I know it's been covered a bazillion times, but opinions seem to differ widely.

You should be fine on a single walbro and some FIC 1100's I would think. I'm at about 75% injector duty cycle on my setup with the stock turbo and E-85 and the green honestly isn't all that much larger. If you were going to go bigger than 1100cc injectors you might as well go all the way out to the 2200cc range and be covered regardless of what power level you might go to down the road. They tune out just fine on E-85 from everything I've read.
Although, If you're planning on going to E-85 with those mods in an MR I'd be worried about the life of your tranny unless you already upgraded it with more than just a upgraded SST cooler.

They didn't on my car. I'd recommend the 1100's and one of the newer pumps (DW or Jay Racing). Cobb Tuning has a nice install kit.
You'd be fine with just a 255 but I prefer to have a little more pump than I need.

Yeah I was looking at either the Cobb 255 kit or the new DW pump which would give me some overhead.
And yes I have 500hp clutch packs ready to go in, and the front mount cooler already installed

I would go for a milder cam personally. 214a, mx1, gsc1, etc...
Not really beneficial since getting higher lift cams are not really critical for a FP Green setup. Most people that want a FP Green want it because it over earlier spool than a Red.

Clipse - Green went in ages ago, then when I got the cams (6 months ago) TBH I thought I would upgrade the turbo to a Red.
So the hardware I'm stuck with
so in looking for more power, I was faced with going for a Red on pump fuel (and needing fuel pump + injectors anyway) or just going E85 and fitting pretty much the same fuel setup, just without the turbo swap. And likely ending up with similar power.

Look into the new aeromotive 300 fuel pump.
Injectors I would run FIC 1100s atleast, but you should probably run the FIC1680s
I'm running a bbx full/1680ccs and the blackops kit/255 and I'm 85%IDC and can run more boost/timing
I'll be upgrading to the aeromotive 300 and the synapse since my crushed stocker cracks open at 27psi

Walbro 255 will be at its limit; put a BAP on the stock fuel pump or the relief valve mod on a 255 and the 1100's but know that you'll be near the limit as soon as you get it tuned. That's not necessarily a bad thing; you will be at probably *the* most fun power levels to be had in these cars!
I have a similar setup but with a fully built head and motor with a BBX. If I were to switch to E85, I would be getting the DW300 pump. I'm on the edge of deciding whether or not to get the FIC 1100's or the 1680's though; on one hand the 1100's should *just* barely be enough but on the other hand, I usually end up upgrading at one point or another...so the 1680's would be a smart move in the long run. Another option is the DW1300's. I LOVE the company, service is amazing but I'm just not sold on the 1300's yet, they seem loud and I've heard some mixed results with them. No personal experience yet though so they are still on my list.
Also remember you will likely max out any stock or 3" size intake, so a 3.5" intake would be worth doing too. I am tempted to try and find ways around this maf-limiting problem, but end of the day I'm already seeing 4.9v at part-throttle and nowhere near redline.
I say KISS. FIC1100's + DW300 and just plan on maxing out your MAF as-is, done and done!

Will give me a little bit of overhead, and should i decide to go for a Red one day it should have the fuel pump covered.
I'm also a bit wary of the DW1300s, I wanted them initially but I've read too many bad reports. But I'm sure there are hundreds of cars out there with them working perfectly aswell, we just don't hear about them!
But FIC1100s are a safe bet, and injectors are easy to swap out later i guess...
can some more people please chime in on the DW 1300. I want to run pretty much exactly what Scheides is running.
I will go with DW 301 when it becomes available. Hope MAP makes an E-85 safe install kit.
It is between FIC 1100 and DW 1300

Precisely the combo I'm leaning towards.

Would love to keep pump and injector the same company. (Just because, no good reason for it)
