I keep hearing a whining noise from under my car whenever I'm in 4th and 5th gear especially when I'm deaccelerating. I just had my axle seal replaced 3,000 miles ago at 33,000 by the dealership. Could this noise be the same problem or is my diff going out?

 

Usually that means the diff oil needs changed or is low but you would think that was done at the time your seals were done.

I've heard the noise also on a cold day its loud and the turbo sounds a little different...Come to find out if your car is tuned and the boost is different from the stock boost and the car hasn't been tuned then the ecu will fight the boost controller causing the noise. I had my boost turned back to stock along with the stock vacuum block and the noise stopped. What are your mods on the car?
