Unhappy Funny Smell and Hesitation

Ok guys, I have read all the threads on the 30Psi = ASC off and I know it's not the vacuum hose coming off the fuel pressure regulator. The only thing I have done to the car is an AMS Short Ram Intake with K&N filter and a Cobb stage 1 specifically for the AMS intake. I did my 30k service about 1000 miles ago along with all the mods. I am not sure if the Cobb Stage 1 would have caused what I am about to explain, since they are supposed to be "safe" tunes.

Ok so here is the story. My car is a DD, so anyone who drives their car daily really gets to know her well from sight, smell, and touch. I was on my way to school and I was giving her about 3/4 WOT, now I haven't really been driving my window open but this day I was, I noticed a faint smell coming in the car but thought it was the Mack Truck in front of me. I passed the truck and afterwards I still noticed this smell when in about 3/4 WOT, I have tested the theory numerous times since then and with the same results 3/4 WOT = Funny smell Kind of sweet but not like transmission fluid sweet if anyone know what burnt tranny smells like.

I check my oil and I noticed it was about a Qt high (my fault I know) but I don't think me driving a 1000 miles like that would have done that much damage and I did notice the bubbles in the oil. I drained it today and took her out for a test run. On the test run I was really laid into her and when I was going from 2nd to 3rd I heard a loud bang and the ASC service light came on. Park at the shopping center checked the oil level, which was perfect now. Turned the car back on and the ASC service light was off. So I decided to get on her again just to see if I could obtain the same result, not that I was trying to break my car but if I could repeat the problem then obviously something is up. So this time I was in 3rd 3/4 WOT and the power was def there I wasn't lacking power at all but at about 4000-5000 rpms she felt not hesitant but almost like I want to say "shaky." The smell was still there and I felt like if I would have gone WOT the ASC service light would have come back on.

My main concern is that something is up with the ASC Pump or that I screwed up doing my 30k service myself. I used the Manufacturers recommended fluids in the TC and the rear diff (Diaqueen GL-3 SAE 75W-80) but I did not touch the LSD I know that you need to bleed it; the level in the tank in the trunk was fine to. I hope I didn't overfill the TC or Dif I filled them both up until it started to trickle out a bit then put the plug back on at the proper torque.

Well I know I wrote a lot I tried to be as detailed in my description as possible. I thank you if you made it this far and any help/advice/ideas will me much appreciated.

Thanks

Jay Rad

Do you happen to do a log with your AP to see if you triggered an overboost condition? Also, pull the code with your AP as maybe the DTC has been stored, even though there's no CEL.

Can I still pull the code even after the ASC service light has gone off? But, no I haven't tried this yet. I didn't even know I could do that lol

Just did a little road test and in 2nd WOT I was pushing 28psi. Maybe I did hit 30psi which is what threw the ASC service light on, I just don't know what would have caused the hesitation.

I figured that's what happened. Try flashing the LWG map for AMS stage 1 and see what happens. Also, I'm interested to see what code you threw, but it's most likely a torque limit code.

LWG? I only have the Cobb Tunes you can get from the website and the one I am using form their website is the one for the AMS intake. I would have to purchase the AMS Stage 1 tune.

Edit: Sorry I am really tired and I miss read that completely. I should flash LWG map for AMS stage 1 for cars that are over boosting

I will give this a shot in the morning and see what happens. Thanks

Ok so I flashed the LWG map for AMS stage 1 for cars that are over boosting. I did a little road run and this time I generated a max 23.3Psi of boost. I did some more reading and found out the with either of the maps there should only be max 24Psi of boost being generated. I think I def just over boosted and it wasn't an error on my behalf doing the 30k service myself.

Ok that's good then. Per cobb's website ~24 psi is ok. I would still pull the code though.

I tried, the Cobb AP said there were no codes.

Hmmm... Must have just cycled through. Well, glad it was just a one time thing and nothing serious happened.

Yeah as soon as I got the ASC service light I pulled over to check my oil. When I restarted my car the service light was gone. I am going to keep a close on it for a bit though and baby it for a while. Until I can find a beater at least.
