Differential pins made a hole in my transmission

My transmission was leaking for about a month, at first there was a small clicking noise when letting of gaz. It didn't stopped and I seen it was leaking so brought it to local dealer diagnotic : Transmission seal leaking and missing bolts (also rear differential small leak) I've asked him you sure about the leak because I need to send it far it's gonna cost me a lot, he said yes. (Wish I know now it's false)

I've then bought 2liter of oil was ready to get the car to usa dealer. Pour in 1/2 liter everything's good, add another 1/2 leak on the ground. I tough new oil leaking would help see it, I jack the car and see near the crossmember there is a hole. I patched it leaking stop but I know my paste won't hold 130miles with the pressure. I look back again and see some kind of 'rip'. I asked myself how comes it can be there it's all 'protected'. I rememberer the other thread : https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ne-manual.html the pic is on the side so it took me long time to recognize but it's the same spot and kind !

So I can now conclude my differential pins broke and made the hole. Even if the car was still running fine excepte the noise.
Last year I was hearing some transmission noise when hot (asked some help here), sended the car to burlington mitubishi they never really heard it, I've asked them to open it anyway paid 1200 bucks they said it's fine but since you have a modified clutch it's probably that. But when they gave me back the car there was no more noise.

Now I don't really know what to do, because if I send it are they gonna say it's not covered by waranty because of the clutch or abuse ? I don't want to pay 350$ to send the car, another 1200$ to have it open, + the replacement part if it's not the whole transmission. And still be afraid the problem comes back.
Or maybe trash the tranny, get another one buy the pins and have them installed. Wish is gonna be expensive too.
If I was near sheptrans I would at bring it there but it's like 650 miles from here.

I've read a lot about the problem being known but not recognisez by mitsibishi.
I haven't trashed the car, had a bit fun but not that much.

Somebody know more about what mitsubishi seend to do with this ?
Thanx !

I live pretty close to Burlington Mitsu and wouldn't recommend taking it to them. What other mods do you have besides the clutch? I wouldn't take it to any dealer unless you were confident it would be covered under warranty. Thought about removing the transmission and shipping to Shep?

+1 on shipping to to Shep. Odds are this will happen again if replaces it, and Shep will make sure it doesn't.

At absolute best Mitsu will warranty it and because OEM parts are going back in (which are the known problem) it will happen again sometime down the road. But the more likely case is Mitsu will deny because that seems to be a trend.
If this happened to me personally I would skip that headache and just send it straight to Shep or Buschar or someone that will fix it and build it up stronger than before.

the 1200 plus 350 cost is enough reason for me to bring the trans to shep than driving it into the US and not know if it will be covered or not.

I have a cobb ap and short shifter that's all, wich are removed both now and we all know it didn't caused the failure.

I'm afraid too that it will happen again if for some reason they say yes to the warranty...

I'm not sure about shep because I think it's gonna cost really a lot to send it there and I'm not even sure if it can be repaired without paying an arm for it. I'm gonna need to ask them monday then !

Well when I got the car (about 17k miles) the clutch was gone so I had it replaced by a stage 3 4 pucks. (forgot to mention it sooner).
I'm gonna take it to sheptrans. So they will make it stronger and I won't get problems anymore.
The bad thing is the rear differential is leaking too. So I'll still need state ato go to the dealer to have it repeared under warranty. Assuming again they won't abuse or something like that.

evo x power your not lucky too hey. HAve 3 problems in that short amount of time would discourage anyone.

Sephtrans charges 1150$ to take care of the tranny (kinda bulletproofing). The pins only are like 150 and you need to get the tranny out (maybe 7-800), and about 300 to have the pins installed. That's what I have heard now.
If you're talking about the differential only (repairing) it's from 0 to like 700 the cost of it.
