Ok... I've got an appointment at mitsu tomorrow at 8am so I may just wait until they send me on my way without a fix to remove them and look around.

Do you guys think I should remove my boost gauge for the visit?

I don't see how a gauge could cause any issues but if you aren't sure how the dealer will react it may not hurt to remove it.

update:

well, dealership visit was so-so... got a free oil change and alignment. the tech tightened up the turbo housing bolts and it seemed to help... but when i got home the tap is still slightly there. seems like it's just a fitment issue with the housing around the turbo. i'll take a look into it this weekend when i have time to completely remove the shield. oh, transfer case fluid was good too that puts me in a little better mood.

another update:

still have been hearing the tapping sound. today i removed the foil chimney and took a peak down to see if anything was missing. sure enough a bolt is missing to the heat shield that wraps around the turbo/downpipe connector area. not sure the technical term for this part. any idear where i can find the bolt size/part no.?? this is most definitely the cause of the tapping.

i attached a pic of the missing bolt.

looks like the name of the heat shield is "Exhaust fitting heat protector A". still don't have specs on the missing bolt though...

Seriously? And the dealer didn't see that? What a bunch of hacks! Looks like they didn't even try to find anything...

Lol... I guess they're not hacks...

No, I'm not gonna take mine to the dealer cause I only noticed it once when my car was really hot coming off the track... Can't exactly tell the dealer the conditions it was under an expect them to honor the warranty...

Idk man, if I were in you shoes, I'd take it back to the dealer and demand for them to fix it, if they don't, look into lemon laws. In most states if samething breaks more than 3 time or takes more than a month you can lemon the car. If they try feeding you some bs that it's normal make them start up a new gsr on their lot and prove it. Might wanna replace that cossy filter with the oem piece though just in case.

I'm in a different situation cause mine only made that noise once when it was very hot, I haven't heard it since and I have aftermarket parts that they can blame it on, clutch, flywheel, and the evo 9 CMC... But its not be there all the time like on your car...

I have watched both videos a few times each now and to me the car is normal. Sounds like everyday Mitsu valve train noise + sewing machine injectors. The difference between hot and cold is the rpms, when the engine is cold its revving a bit more and masking the clicking a bit. Have someone hold 1000rpm on the warm engine and it will be the same.
