Evo X Launch

So I know that the MR comes with a launch control. So for the GSR what would be a safe launch RPM? I have bolt on's test pipe ams exhaust and ets intake and tune on stock clutch 37k miles. So tomorrow is test and tune here in Colorado at Bandimere. I just want to know what a safe launch rpm would be.

if you hold in the asc button for 3+ seconds it will completely turn off the traction control and also will enable the 2-step launch control. after its all the way off you hit the gas and the rpm's jump between 5000 - 5500rpm. then the rest is on you

No such thing really as a safe RPM. The higher the revs, the more stress you're inducing. I generally just rev a bit to around 4500 before I launch. This is off the line for an auto-x event though, not drag.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the gsr model didn't have the launch control.

put your car in first gear and while holding the clutch and floor it. The rpms won't go over 5500. That way the car builds up boost for a launch.

I had real good luck at the track with my launch control set to peak torque right around 4500 rpm should work great. i almost dump it with just a little slip to save on the clutch while giving a little cussion for the drivetrain.

Is there anyway to tell if you have the full launch control off aside from revving it? Like a light or something aside from the asc light?

Got it thank you. So I had good success today. Consistently ran 13.6 @106mph. Got 5 runs in. Bandimere is 5800ft elevation so not to bad imo. The car has the mods listed in the first post.

Just to share my experience..I always use the
2 step launch on my GSR...one time on
The dragstrip I started revving while waiting
For the other car to stage...I think I stayed
There longer than usual revving and
My rpm jumped up to 7000 before I launched
Scared me a little bit and smelled the clutch
After

It works fantastic. Use OpenECU to set the launch RPM to whatever works for your setup. I have mine set pretty high (7000rpm) but any thing less and the car tends to bog. Keep in mind I don't have a very stock setup, but here is some video from the track to see it in action. Note that you don't just mash the gas pedal, you free rev it a bit first and work up to the 2-step rpm, then once it starts bouncing give it more gas and before too long out with the clutch and off you go.

Dude those are some high traps for those times. I went 11.2@122 w/1.860ft low boost. I slip my clutch also (exedy twin disk) had revs set to like 6800 and no lift shift all the way down the track. Go job on the wins tho look like you guys had alot of fun

Yea, I need to get NLTS setup on my car. That and a few minor changes are the plan for next year. But yea, back on topic, 2-step has been on every USDM evo from the factory (or at least the software has been there for it).
