The Manhattan Project (Phantom X Evo's engine build) Third Turbo Choice

Well we just pulled the engine last night and are going to tear into it and get it ready to ship to MAP for in the next couple of days.
Here are a few shots I took on my phone while we were working.

The timing chain tensioner is kinda neat, as it doesn't require adjustment.

We were concerned with the wear on the cam bearings for an engine that has <10K miles on it. The grooves are noticeable to the touch and showed up really well in the photos. I'd like anyone with experience on this to disscuss, please.

Ask any racer, any real racer, it don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile, organization is key.

This is what is going in an on this bad boy:

Darton sleeves
JE 90mm 10:1 pistons
Manley TT rods
MAP Stage 3 head w/ +1mm Supetech valves and springs
GSC 2 cams
ETS 4" Black intercooler and pipes
Buschur Double Pumper
FIC 2150cc
Magnus CMC (AMS ring lasted ~1500 miles)
Full Race twinscroll T4 Borg Warner Series EFR 8374 turbo kit .92 A/R IWG (well this was the plan untill the ship date kept moving, and now is around end of sept)
ETS V-Band Billet 6266 Turbo kit w/4" intake

I think I will be the first X to run the EFR, because I can't find any Evos with them on except acssa (evo9) and Sierra Sierra. (no longer )

I will post more pics (hopefully better ones) and info up as it comes along. Feel free to ask any question you may have.

ETS 6266 Turbo kit came in. Pics on page 2

Block and head came in. Pics on page 3

Thanks, my goal is ~550whp on 93 and ~700whp on E85.

Looking good!

Wish I was back in town in time for the teardown but I am back now so I'll be around to assist the rest of the build.

Cool, Mike said you wanted to be there for taking the head off and internals out. We have not started that yet. Oh, and Mike is holding onto the downpipe if you still want it.

Awesome looking build, basically the same motor I have

I'd be careful shooting for any kind of number on 93 octane with the higher compression. I'd say just run it at 20-24psi, but on that size turbo I guess I don't see why you couldn't make 550whp. Remember, high compression sucks for high boost. But I love where this build is going. In for numbers for sure.

Looks like it is going to be a beast. Good to see another GA evo.

Are you gonna replace that ugly plastic valve cover while it's tore down? LOL

That's going to be one sick setup!

If the bumper was coming off for the intercooler replacement anyway, why leave it on for the engine pull? Seems like a PITA

I thought about that also, but we had already started and I was just excited and decided to keep going. I didnt get in the way very much really.

Looks to be a potent combo and I will be watching for results closesly! I'm planning a similar setup for my new MR but need to get the basics done on the car first, especially beefing up the SST side of the house.

Just finished dis-assembling the block tonight for shipping. I'll updated pics soon.

Now updated. Please look at the cam bearings and discuss if you have any input.

Well MAP has the block and head. The EFR turbo is not going to be here till late Sept, so I am going with a ETS V-band billet wheel 6265 turbo kit w/4" intake instead. I was planning on this turbo before the EFR anyways, and I can't afford to wait that long (maybe longer) on the EFR turbo.
