Odd Issue With Acceleration

So I've noticed a weird issue in the last week or so. Doesn't matter what gear I'm in, when I am at or near WOT I notice my RPMs will kind of shoot up but the car doesn't feel like it's pulling like it should. They'll come back down and then it will accelerate almost as normal, but still seems off. I've got 39,xxx on the stock clutch, I'm thinking it might be starting to slip? Any other telltale signs of slippage? I had the stocker on my last car until I traded it so I never felt a clutch at the end of it's life.

To test if its the clutch:

Put the car in first gear to get the car moving slowly, shift to third gear and give it gas. If the clutch is worn the RPM's will go up then back down quickly and when the RPM's have come back down the car will begin to move forward.

What this does is it puts a load on the clutch. If the clutch can't hold the load, the RPM's go up until the clutch can catch up and then the RPM's will go down and the car will move.

FWIW, from how you describe it, it sounds like the clutch is shot.

Good luck.

Bye bye clutch! Sounds like it's slipping based on your description... hence why the engine increases in rpms yet the car doesnt accelerate with the engine at the rate it should.

Kinda what I figured. How much torque is the stocker rated to? I have an extended warranty that covers it, should I even go the OEM route or go with something like a Spec Stage 2+?

Warranty won't cover your clutch since it's a wear item. Only time it will cover your clutch is if there is a component failure such as a pressure plate, clutch fork, slave cylinder, etc.

I wouldn't go back to OEM since you're modded. Not sure about the Spec.

Any suggestions on a good clutch/flywheel package that isn't going to break the bank and is rated up to about 450 ft/lbs?
