best short shifter

yep, which is the most popular/offers best throw/best bushings as a combo?

i searched, but i didn't see any threads debating what to get. for subaru's it's kartboy's ss with bushings, ton of difference.

as for the evo, i see torque solutions, twm, works...i don't want the shortest throw, i want the best performing shifter in combination with all the bushings/cables.

i have the twm shifter, bushings and one of their shift knobs. this combined with kracka's redline cocktail for the trans, has vastly improved the feel of the transmission for me at least.

Works short shifter is what i got after plenty of research. there was a thread about a guy who compared the twm/works/stock and he said the Works ended up being the best overrall in terms of shifter feel, position of knob and overall quality. That is why I went with works. Had the dealer install it and it is definitely a must have on this car...Transmission feels less knotchy and definitely more smooth and shifts are much shorter...GL!

After long research myself... I went with Works SS and bushings combo, then went with the Torque Solutions gear selector pivot bushing. AMS has this same bushing but I was told TS's version is just as good but easier to install. Works is not the shortest throw, but for daily driving, overall comfortability and performance... it's the way to go apparently. I will give my full review once I install it next week.

Kracka gave a full review of the Works vs TWM vs stock check it out here:

lol i know right? you know i truly missed DD my old sti, cause i got into this whole diseel truck scene. well i got tired of the giant lifted trucks and said wtf, i'm gonna DD an evo. build plans are gonna be pretty decent, i really like the car. not 500whp, but at least 350. how do you like your X compared to your 06? man both cars are so different, but i love enjoying both of them.

i still have the black 05 that i take out when it's nice i don't think i'll ever part ways with her.

My STi have different part in my heart I miss the boxer rumble and how light she was compared to the X...Dont get me wrong I love my X but STi was my first love. lol.

But once I jump into the evo I forget all about that, recaros hug me snug tight while I take corners waaaay faster than I ever took with my STi. And I have this on my face:

Evo is a great daily driver, just dont over do the mods. I think bolt ons, tune a long with wheels and some suspension bits and you will be set.

TWM also came out with full caged replacement short shifter which looks great

I am waiting to be unbroke to pick one up. lol It shud make a huge difference over the stock sloppy shifter.

i hear you on the mods. that's exactly what i want to do. mostly bolt ons, make her pretty, and run/handle great. nothing excessive.

i saw that twm full cage replacement. i'm going to watch everyone's input on it as they install it.

I went off of Krackas review and I got the Works SS with Grab Knob, console bushings and cable bushings. I do not have his cocktail mix yet that is the next mod. Hands down get the Works SS and be done with it. I bought a TWM and guess what. It just wasnt driver friendly to me after having the works in for a week. Spend money right the first time GET THE WORKS SS

ZFR. Can't beat $105 for the shifter and bushings. It's exactly the same as another big name brand.
