I have a built motor runnnig a BBX. The car was recently tuned and held boost fine through 8000rpm. A couple of days later the wastegate started blowing off at 6500 -7000rpm. The boost drops immediately to 14psi and the engine goes quiet. The first time it happened I thought I blew the motor as the wastegate just blows completely open. Everything else seems fine. I checked all the vacuum lines and IC Piping.

The car's been running on the built motor making 450whp without any boost issues for over a year.

3 Port gone bad??

Any ideas?

Could be a giant boost leak somewhere that only pops up when pushing it. Boost leaks are weird like that.

However, I'd look more towards the turbo possibly having an issue. Any smoke or anything out the exhaust?

The first thing I'd do if you think the turbo is alright is pull the wga out the car and pressure test it off the car, make sure its working alright.

 

The problem turned out to be the rubber inlet tubing on my AEM Intake collapsing and cutting off the air supply. I'm assuming it started happening due to the filter getting dirty and causing more restriction.
