Don't Use Royal Purple in X Rear Diff
I always have used the diaqueen or amsoil... not a fan of the royal purple. I just don't see how oil can do this type of damage though, looks like something broke off or came loose in there.
I use to think RP was great. I started using it in my 8, and it would eat about a quart a week. Did an oil flush and oil change and it never happened again.
Either way, I agree that more info is needed before we pass judgement. I'm sure they used the wrong oil.

I had a discussion with Shep along time ago. Along with BR and some other larger shops. The consensus was... use the OEM Mitsu LSD oil. If you race just change it more often.
There is some other oils out there for sure but the long term tests have no confirmed if they are worth a damn or just a marketing ploy.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it... in other words, use what's already been proven to work.
Used RP in my Evo8 for most of its 178k miles and now in my Ralliart Sportback. Never ever an issue. Royal Purple Max Gear 75w90. Amsoil and Redline work fine too.
