Opinion on 400 Cell Catalytic Converter
Came across a 3" 400 Cell Cat and was wondering on the Opinions. I think wilh a 400 cell it would keep the check engine away for sure. would kind of love to see a 400 cell on the ETS HFC but with the Bung position were AMS puts it now. There would be no wires that have to be hung up and away and would not need a O2 fix. Here is the link. Would it be too restrictive and does anyone know the cell count for our factory cat? Here is the link. Not looking to make the most power, just something that will flow smooth with my ETS setup and not worry about O2 spacers or turning off the rear O2.

What's your reason for wanting this cat? No CEL? The CEL can be toggled off in ECUFlash (Cobb may have this capacity as well.) I've been driving with a 100 cell cat for ~1.5yrs and no CEL.

CEL is the main reason and I'm not a big fan of turning off sensors. Just purchased the ETS HFC with the J Bung along with the downpipe and V2 Quiet hoping it won't be a issue. If so I'm sure a 3" 400 cell should fix the issue and still be less restrictive then stock. Will see. I'll post a review once installed. ETS is great stuff. I had there V2 regular on my old X.
The problem with most high flow catalytic converters is that they are OBD I, not OBD II, thus almost guaranteeing a CEL unless a defouler is used. When I was a supermoderator on 8th Gen Civic, I did quite a bit of research on this and found that certain defoulers worked better than others. The one I had on my Civic Si had a 90 degree angled pipe with adjustable threaded nuts on either end of the defouler. If the angled section was either too long or too short, it seemed people were getting CEL's.
One company that was pretty highly regarded with Hondas was Random Technology: http://randomtechnology.com/products.html They have a 7000 series 3" universal fit cat that could be adapted for use on a 3" exhaust. I remember a few guys running a 3 1/2" cat by using adapters to a 3" exhaust.
My son just had an ETS 4" intercooler, UICP, LICP, custom downpipe and testpipe. He got a winter tune and our tuner was able to to manipulate something on Tephra to stop a CEL coming from the second 02 sensor. With my Honda, I had Hondata Flashpro and was able to check a box which disabled the second 02 sensor.
As for the OP's interest in SLP cats, they are pretty good stuff. I have heard good things about them and they seem to flow well. However, the power gain with a straight pipe is pretty hard to beat. The only downside is the incredible amount of black smoke that comes out when you get it on. Chalk that up to the rich tune. If the OP does go with a cat, make sure to get a metallic substrate and not ceramic. Metallic substrate cats hold up better to very high heat. They seem to flow better too.

please correct me by all means but i do recall reading that the OEM cat was 300?
recently installed the greddy exhaust and i feel that it needs a hfc so looking into it with a bit more detail.
