Intercooler Help

Hi,

I recently bought an X... about a month ago... I has UR downpipe, testpipe and single side exhaust. It also has AMS UICP and a cone filter. Manual boost controller... thats pretty much it plus a tune.

Im wondering what gains can I see with an intercooler plus retune...

Im between ets 3.5 or 4.0 but dont know which one is actually better!

Any information will be helpful thanks

Honestly, the FMIC will just help with consistency. Nevertheless, a 3.5" ETS would be just fine for your setup. I wouldn't expect bigger numbers though.

This is based off my experience when upgrading to an aftermarket FMIC, followed by a re-tune; albeit different days but same dyno

I have a AMS intercooler but ETS 3.5 is the same size as mine i think
your not going to see a big gain in power but as far as i can tell with my intercooler the power band was much smoother

Here you go! You can see the gains between the 3.5" and the 4.0" without tuning.

The intercoolers are mainly a supporting mod to keep the AIT's down, but on the Evolution X which has dual Mivec the larger intercoolers really help with flow and overall performance.

Thanks!

*bump for ETS, simply because Mike can spot a question from the other side of the etherdark and has the customer service skills of precognitive thought.

Also, there's a cool youtube vid ETS took with a thermal scanner showing how efficient their cores are. It truly was amazing.

Our friends at Garrett Turbo brought by a Fluke Ti32 digital thermal imaging video camer to play with on the dyno. We had an EVO X on the AWD Dynapack getting tuned with an ETS 4" FMIC and intercooler piping.

This test was done by RRE in CA.

Thanks!
