Connectors for Wiring Harnes - specifically CAS

So, in my motor failure one of the more annoying parts is that a piece of the casing flew out and knocked off half of the casing on my crank angle sensor connector on the engine wiring harness.

Have we found a place to get these from yet?

The connector is gray and has 3 wires arranged in a straight line. It is the style that has a push-in lever in the center (similar to the A/C or BCS connector) and appears to have similar seals to the GM weatherpak connectors or the injector seals. I'll grab a picture of it later this evening.

Thanks!

Good luck finding the connector, your best bet is to find an auto wrecker with new style lancers that will cut off the pigtail for that one. They charge, in my experience, 50-100$ to cut any pigtails off of a harness (which, in their perspective, is usually 500$ and WAY up for a new engine harness).

Yeah, I assumed something along those lines but I was hoping to find a better answer. Hopefully someone else has a better idea... we came up with some good ones for the BCS and some good info related to the production company.

I also plan to check Hyundai to see if they use / sell a similar connector. It still boggles me slightly that we can't buy these things separately.

So my best guess so far is that it is sumitomo TS series F(6189-0443)
pg B13 here: http://www.sws.co.jp/en/product/connector/pdf/wp_ts.pdf
(though the top of this connector does not look quite correct.

The internals look very similar to this Toyota connector Toyota PN 90980-11153 but the clip is slightly different at the top (and it is 3 pin).

http://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/pro...oducts_id/1069
http://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/pro...oducts_id/1682

The connector clip looks more like this MT series but the OEM keys are on the sides, not the bottom and the female holes are not shaped correctly: Sumitomo Part Number: 6189-0027

http://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/pro...oducts_id/1706
http://www.sws.co.jp/en/product/connector/pdf/wp_mt.pdf

This TS series has the keys on the side but the holes are upsidedown (or I shaped instead of an I with the top ridge shaved off): Sumitomo Part Number: 6189-0443
http://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/pro...oducts_id/1704
http://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/pro...oducts_id/1663

A description of each model line can be found here: http://www.sws.co.jp/en/product/connector/wp_ts.html

My pics of the broken CAS connector are here: http://thefrost.net/randomfiles/tuni...0120125_X_CAS/

Currently the images are too big to post in-thread. I'll see if I can resize them later.

Again, not the right disconnect clip or direction on the pin holes on the DL series:
http://www.sws.co.jp/en/product/connector/pdf/wp_dl.pdf
F(6195-0009)
F(6195-0247)

Does not appear to be HW or 91 series

Again, incorrect hole shape and clip release on the HX series but the closest is F(6189-0596)

SL (secondary lock series):
http://www.sws.co.jp/en/product/connector/pdf/wp_sl.pdf
release is closer but holes are off and no gap between pins:
F(6189-6870)
Release is wrong, top does not raise up enough:
F(6189-6898)
Close on many accounts but key is not correct:
F(6189-6912)
2 wire but many bits look close to correct:
F(6189-0915)

Does not appear to be the outdated 62 sealed series F(6098-0141) or F(6098-0142) either:
http://www.sws.co.jp/en/product/conn...f/wp_62_02.pdf

Well, since my Sumitomo search isn't yielding any results I did learn one piece of useful information.... the crank angle sensor on all of these 4B11 cars is the same:

cw5w 2005-2008 outlander
cx4a Galant Fortis (lancer 4b11) 2007+
cy4a Galant Fortis (lancer 4b11) 2007+
cx5a (08-12) mitsubishi Lancer Sportback 4B11
cy5a MITSUBISHI LANCER 09+
cz4a Evo X
ga2w Mitsubishi ASX / Mitsubishi Outlander Sport 2010+

It may be the same connector on cars like the Hyundai Genesis coupe, but I'm not sure. I've also heard that it is the same as the cam angle sensor on the CT9A cars, but I have not verified that yet. I'll be trolling for a harness soon enough.

Hello OP,
We has an issue where we were melting the CAS... sooo we went through a couple of these clips. We went to the local junk yard and just clipped them off the galants, lancers and they were identical. I know the Evo 8/9 CAS uses the same clip as well (From the side by side comparison we did).

I'll try to see if I have any extras lying around, if anything I could hit up the local junk yard, I pretty much walked away with them for free, they know me very well from my VR4 years (fail.. haha)

I just tried plugging in the Crank Angle Sensor from the X into the Cam Angle Sensor from a IX. VERY similar, nearly the same... but the size is JUST slightly off and the harness from the IX is too small. It does fit into the same Cam Angle Sensor connectors on the X though. Oh well, I guess they made them black / grey for a reason.

I have the housings and will have a reel of sockets for the crank sensor and coil housings by the end of the week.

I sent fatbastard the following info:

I have posted photos large and small (see folder small) and a zip of all photos in each folder here:

http://thefrost.net/randomfiles/rand...CAS_connector/

I'm just realizing I didn't take any images of the depth, but I'm not sure if you can extrapolate that.

There are photos of the grey connector (first few are of the broken connector) and a caliper measured good connector that the CAS fits into.
