Looking to get a new TBE

Okay so after looking around for the past few months and putting it off, the wife made it clear to me that I just need to step up and buy it. I'm going to get one eventually. I got some money to spend so I wanted to do things right. I'm waiting on a response email from ETS about if they will shave off a few $ if I buy their down pipe, HFC and V2 quiet exhaust all together. I've heard the Invidia Q300 exhaust and can pick one up for around $770, which is a lot cheaper than the V2. What are most of you guys running? I want to keep the cat in case I move back to CA. I'm in the neighborhood of spending around $1,500.

What kind of sound are you lookin for? Some like stupid loud, some like similar to stick with beastly tones when opened up on highway. I am 38 have family. I have the MAP recirc Dp, CP-E power pipe with HFC, and CP-E cat back dual tip exhaust resonated. It offers nice rumble slightly louder than stock on normal driving, but when hard on gas, people know your coming. CPE has good sound clips on their website. YouTube is a good place to start to get an idea what YOU want. Most are decent quality but you'll get the idea. Best bet is go to local meets and see what others are running. Even if it evo 8/9 sound should be close to sound for x. Ask to go for rides in their cars so you can see different levels of sound. Most will help you out unless their total douch bags. Good luck. Remember it is for YOU. Everyone is different and has different tastes.

Check out this thread https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...st-thread.html

I have an AMS Widemouth DownPipe and a AMS HFC with a TurboXS CBE and it sounds really good. Not too loud but under WOT sounds amazing. But I do plan on getting the ETS V2 Extreme CBE in the future.

I'm going to have to take a look into the CP-E exhausts then, since thats exactly what im shooting for. I don't want something raspy and super loud. I want a deep beefy sound, Especially at WOT. Thanks for you input.

If you were in Ohio I'd take ya for ride to see for your self. There was a dual tip CPe in FS section. Not sure if it still for sale. Check there also, some guys going back to stick selling parts to recoup some cash.

Ive heard going with a resonated test pipe helps with the noise at idle and drone at cruising speeds. I just got a Perrin CBE that is on the way and have a T1R resonated TP waiting to be installed. Im thinking it should sound pretty sweet when I get on it! I will update when its done. If your worried about it being too loud though I would say get a HFC or resonated TP and a CBE that has a decent size muffler. The Invidia Q300 looks like a really nice exhaust. I was thinking of getting one but got the perrin instead. The T1R stuff is extremely well made though.

I have the full CPE exhaust, no cat or resonators, dual tip. amazing exhaust, no drone on the highway, it's very deep sounding and surprisingly quiet when just cruising around with windows up, soon as you go WOT though people will hear a couple blocks away.

Btw I wish my wife would tell me just to step up and buy parts for my car.. Is there a trick to this marriage thing that I don't know about?

If your moving to California. Go with the Quiet version You won't be sorry, it has a nice smooth idle and then when you open it up you can really hear it, but it's not too loud! It's by far one of my favorite exhaust systems on the market.

Thanks!

Michael
