Low/Mid range Torque strategy
Low/Mid range Torque strategy
Hi,
( I know this is a 2.0L and there are some limitation to what can be done for low/mid range Torque )
I am looking to _try_ to increase low/mid range torque and responsivity of my 2008 evolution GSR (and remaining somewhat legal on the warranty side so as stock as possible) and broaden the torque curve. I dont care for peak this and that. All I care is a nice broad surface under the curve
so far, I am considering the following:
- Ported stock exhaust manifold
- high-flow cat
- EBCS
- quite evidently a tune with all those parts.
is there something else in my strategy I may have missed?
thanx for your input.

Two other "standard" tricks for moving the peak of the torque curve down are: (a) increase the length of the intake runners and (b) delay the opening of the intake and exhaust valves.
I'm not sure if these are as effective with forced induction, tho'.

Do you have e85 in your area? BOOST will give you torque...what other mods do you have? Pretty much any mods you do will help but the most responsive/torquey down-low setup will be stock turbo, testpipe, catback, and e85. Add some kelford -b cams for epic torque spike. Ported IM/TB helps a ton too.
If you want to expand the powerband, add a bigger turbo

no e85 in my area

rally cars running from low to mid range power since they are literally dead over 6K rpm.. But you dont want to put a restrictor plate in your car , believe me.
So get a higher compression engine (you can even add 200cc to it
), and the same oem size but better spooling turbo, with a right cams and tune. The car will be quick as hell.
