The dealer told me it was stretched bad, and I only found out BC the timing cover was leaking. They went above and beond I think. They replaced the grears, cover, and chain , dealer said it was $1800 in repairs.

That is right. When they change the chain they usually change all that anyways along with the oil pump chain. My bill was around $1800 as well. Mine skipped 3 teeth. Luckily no damage

I dont think the chain came out till 2012 so it is pretty unlikely that you have it. The only way to know for sure is to pull the timing cover and have a look.

There was an updated chain in early 2011. So they are either just now officially announcing it or they have a third revision. The consensus so far has been just now announcing it.

According to the service manager at Long beach mitsu (I don't trust dealers but figured I would ask), he said that the stretching problem was only shown on the 2010 model. The 2011 had the new revised chain and that they wouldn't show any problems.

Now to change the relays....

well i have a 2008 and it stretched. Although the new revised chain came out in 2011 i do not believe they were used in production untill 2012. If your lucky maybe some late model 2011's will have them.

The new chain is a triple link and looks much more durable then the previous. I was talking to the service manager and they have seen lots of them fail.

Quick Reply: New timing chain as of April 2012
