High clutch engagement point

I've actually had this trait (don't want to call it a problem necessarily) since I got my car off the lot brand new. I'm still on the stock clutch/flywheel at 44k miles, so I've kind of became used to it, but whenever someone else drives my car, they always mention that the clutch has a high engagement point and it may be on the way out. I can say with relative certainty that the clutch point hasn't moved far, and it's always been that high for as long as I remember. Is there a way to adjust it? I'm thinking if possible, I would do so when I throw in a new exedy clutch, so people won't complain about it.

For the record, I just tried launching it a few days ago, and the clutch didn't slip one bit. On my old car, I know the master cylinder can be adjusted by twisting a nut behind the clutch pedal, not sure if it's the same for the X.

Why do you care about what other people think when they drive your car?

Also unless you have an aftermarked CMC, you can't adjust the factory one. It's all plastic with no adjustment features.

Eh it just gets annoying when everyone tells me my clutch is going out when it's not. Plus it's admittedly high. Took me a while to get used to the clutch pedal that only engages when it's half way to the floor. On my old car, the clutch engages as soon as it lifts off the floor. In that scenario everyone stalls in my car on their first go

But seeing I don't have a choice in adjusting the master cylinder...I guess I have to live with it.

You should replace your oem CMC with one SSP. You can adjust the engagement and it won't break leaving you stranded.

Run an adapter with a Evo 8/9 CMC. The SSP will leave you stranded.

Really? You are the firs person I've ever heard comment critically on SSP's CMC solution? I use it and it's worked fine for a 18 months and I know their later versions are improved over mine. I had heard their very first versions would bind up sometimes but that was all.

Did you use theirs and have a problem?

Yes.

You need to search.

This is just one thread. There have been multiple failures of the SSP CMC.

I just bought an X yesterday, and the clutch is very high off the floor. I have to swallow my knee to set off. Is this normal?

Have you guys removed the restrictor from the slave cylinder?

the restrictor is in the hose, right? supposed to soften drivetrain shock.

i had my clutch line changed into steel braided one by cobb tuning when i first received the car, not sure if it was taken out in the process.

I will also look into this. Did you have good results with removing the restrictor?

I'll do a search; I'm sure a how-to exists on here somewhere...
