Last Minute Mods? (Baby on the Way)

Alright guys, I need some help. I just found out that I have a baby on the way in about 8 months and I'm wanting to do some last minute building for my Evo X gsr. Right now I have:

AMS UICP
AEM Intake
AEM TruBoost & UEGO gauges
ETS HFC
ETS V2 Quiet CBE
Torque Solutions Exhaust Mounts
Custom Road Tune
282 Cams
Forge WGA
ACT Streetlite Flywheel
ACT HD Clutch
AMS CMC Kit
403hp on 93oct

I have a budget of around $5k for some "last minute" mods before I'll be saving and spending on the baby.

My ideal next mods:

1. AMS FMIC.

2. Fuel system: I'm thinking of going with the Deatschwerks DW65C pump and 850cc injectors. I'm unsure about which brand of injectors to use though. I've been reading that the DW injectors have had fitment issues.

3. Turbo: I'm wanting to upgrade to an FP Red.

4. Water/Meth Injection: I'm thinking about the AEM 1 gallon kit.

Is this a good next step with my setup? Any comments or recommendations?

I can't help but ask, since the issue seems core to the question: after spending $5k now, will you have $10k in cash in 8 months?

Assuming so, my next question is whether the baby will ride in the Evo. If so, then I would spend the next pile of money on a good suspension, by which I mean shocks with highly digressive damping, such as KW V3s. I wouldn't be making the car faster; I'd be making it safer and more comfortable.

I have $5k to spend on the car now. After this, it'll be awhile before I have extra funds to put towards it. Yes, the baby will ride in the Evo, but not all the time. We have a newer Mustang that is bone stock.

I wanting to push the Evo but not more than the ACT HDSS can handle. And I forgot to mention that the previous owner modded the suspension. Eibach springs and struts I believe.

With a baby on the way, you need to hold off on the turbo. They are dicey at times with engine longevity, and if it will strap you financially with an engine loss, you need to not even think about it.

Get the front mount, ID1000cc injectors for head room later, and wait and see how things work being a daddy. Then get a turbo later. Responsibility can be a beeotch, but overmodding your car will ensure you selling it or late night fights with the wife. Much better to take slow steps as it makes sense. Trust me on this, just walked down the path the past 6 years (twice), and doing it slow is the only way to go.

Good luck! Being a dad is infinitely more rewarding than having a fast car.

The only non-OE shocks that are available for GSRs are the Bilsteins from an MR. Odds are, you have ProKits on the OE KYBs. Are your shocks black or yellow?

In any event, I stick with the suggestion of KW V3s. My kids are much older than minus eight months, but I know that they want me to upgrade the suspension soon.

Thanks Noize. That sounds good. I guess I'm just worried that the stock turbo won't hold up for too long with the current mods.

The springs and shocks/struts are black. I was told the springs are def aftermarket.

It'll definitely hold up, it will just not have more to give, which is OK. As you increase power, you'll move your powerband to the left and increase torque. I don't see the snail dying over that.

Okay. So AMS FMIC and ID1000cc injectors. What about the fuel pump? Would the DW65C be a good one with my current setup? Of all the pumps for the X it seems to be one of the best, not to mention an incredibly easy install.

And yeah, B3n... you already know. I'm getting the Recaro baby seat in black and gray to match the interior for sure.

Right on! Both my kids rock these seats and they love 'em. Good luck with the build.

I recommended those injectors due to capacity. I'm on stock cams, but a bigger turbo than you with those exact injectors on the stock pump, and I have no issues at all. You ought to just roll with the stock pump for now.

Hmm... I just figured I might as well upgrade the pump if I'm gonna be throwing in bigger injectors. It'd be easier now while I have the funds at least.
