First Mods for 2011 Evo X MR

So these are the mods I know I'm leaning towards at the moment, I want my car to stay under 400-450whp so I don't plan to add much more after this besides gauges and a few other small things. Opinions on brands, kits, etc are all welcome. I'm still undecided between the DW and the Walbro Fuel Pump - and are 1000cc injectors big enough for e85?

ETS Air Intake
GM 3-port BCS
Injector Dynamics 1000cc Injectors
DW65c 265lph Fuel Pump

I'm also still debating on exhausts, but this is what I'm leaning towards right now:

ETS Quiet V2 Catback Exhaust OR ??? Still doing research..
ETS Testpipe OR Speedcircuit Testpipe
ETS Recirculated Downpipe OR AMS Widemouth Downpipe

Do I need UICP yet, or will I need it in the near future?

What year car do you have?

I don't think you have a good list, no offense, and you won't make that power without a bigger turbo.

Also, until you get a bigger turbo the downpipe won't help you very much at all.

Great first round list in my opinion:

- EBCS
- Test Pipe
- Gauges so you can tell if you are hurting your car when modified before doing permanent damage
- Drop in filter
- Tune

Depending on year of your car, you may want to replace your relays to avoid problems down the road as well.

Hope this helps

I think with downpipe, test pipe, stock turbo, the only way you will even come close is on E85 and even then you would need a high reading dyno. I would almost assume E85 was implied since you listed fuel pump and injectors as a mod.

It's a 2011 mr, probably should of posted that. And yeah, any advice is more than welcome doni don't waste my money.

I wanted to get it running on e85, that's what the fuel pump and Injectors were for.

So my budget is around 1000-1500 for parts. I don't want gauges, I plan to so those later, and I want it running on e85. Any advice is helpful.

Aside from the gauges then, my suggestions still stand for a 'first round of mods'. You won't be able to get the fuel pump and injectors in there with that budget. The list I had is roughly 1500 including the protune and minus the gauges.

And don't skimp on the tune. Find a place that is GREAT with EVO's with a long track record, especially because you are an MR. If you are not close to a good tuner, I would HIGHLY recommend contacting Kozmic Motorsports in Houston for an etune because they specialize in MR's which are much harder to tune than GSR's.

Good luck!

There is a place called take flight performance in san antonio *I live in texas) that a lot of people recommended me to. I already have a gm 3port, forgot to mention that. I'm not putting the tune in the 1500, that's just for parts without install or tune.

I feel like your list is no where near 1500. A test pipe is $180, got my 3port for $50 or so, and a drop in filter is $50.

I added that was my end result, as in I don't ever plan on going higher than that in the near future. I don't care if I get there with this round of mods, just want to get close. I didn't want people recommending mods for 550-600hp builds when I don't plan to ever go much over 400.

Depends what parts you get. I will be tuning with an ETS Catted Test pipe with the additional wideband bung. New that's roughly $370 I don't have access to a used EBCS, so that's around $100. The drop in filter is $50. Fuel pump kit Walbro 255 is around $175.

Plus tune ~$450

That's right at $1150

I don't have a garage so I have around $300 installation cost for this to be done, which may alter with your pricing. (that's how I got to $1500)

Honestly if you are in Texas, you would be making a massive mistake not taking advantage of Kozmic. They literally have people sending them their SST transmissions to troubleshoot and upgrade from around the world.

I would talk with them about your goals, see what parts you can put on yourself that are safe to run without a tune, then go get dialed in by them. The MR is nothing to mess with in the wrong hands and is too expensive not to tune with the very best.

Good luck!

YES YOU DO.

Not installing gauges BEFORE tuning/swapping parts is akin to saying "I dont give a **** about my engine (10K to replace) or my SST (again, like 10K to replace) or all the stress and headache caused by blowing **** up"

Why?

A AMS race engine is way overkill for a 400-500 hp goal.

An AMS 2.2 fits in his $1500 budget?

Lots of people run modded cars without gauges. As long as you have a reliable tune, you're not going to blow your engine up because you don't have gauges. His tuner will provide the wideband for the tune, and he can absolutely install them in a later round of modding if he decides he wants them.

I dono. I feel oddly nervous/weird driving around my X without gauges even tho its basically stock. Was used to my old VIII and constantly monitoring them.
