2010 Evo X GSR gearbox noise
2010 Evo X GSR gearbox noise
Hey guys,
Hoping someone can shed some light on this (or tell me its the normal less-than-refined nature of the Evo and I'm being an uptight *****).
I just bought my second Evo and picked her up this week. I've noticed having spent more time with the car that on most upshifts on 1-2 and 2-3 the gearbox gives what I would describe as a very light and quick grinding noise before it slides into the gate but it is so quick I could just be confusing it for a click. However, if doing slow, clutchless shifts and letting the synchros do their thing it makes no noise. Shifts from 3-4 and 4-5 make no noise and downshifts are seamless.
Is this noise something i should be concerned about immediately? Does anyone else have this issue?
I wish i could upload an audio file here for you guys so this is easier to understand because as you can see I have a real hard time explaining it.
I should note that it does not do it on EVERY shift between 1-2 and 2-3. It will happen even when I am making a strong point to bury the clutch pedal to the floor.
