Loud Rattling noise, when let off throttle at 4k
Hey guys, I recently had my clutch replaced again, with an ACT streetdisk. I had this before but it got burnt out. Now after I had it replaced, the shop gave the car back to me with my ASC light on, and said I just needed to have it cleared because when you replace the clutch they had to drop the steering wheel, and when they put the steering wheel back on, the sensor bugged out. That was fine, I said I'll go get it cleared. But the next morning when I started to drive my car(and this happens in any gear) whenever I let off throttle at 4k, it makes a loud rattling noise from under the dash, can anyone throw some suggestions at what it might be, they said it's my transfer case whining and going, but I've never had this issue before, and I only have 20k miles, with a catback exhaust w/ testpipe, a cone filter, and SSP CMC. Here's an example video, not the best, but the best I could capture.
btw, car drives fine, it's just the light that's on, and the rattling that's driving me ****ing insane.

Sounds like they didn't bleed the system, which would cause the error code and could cause the pump to fry itself causing it to whine. You need to stop driving the car immediately and have it taken in for service somewhere that has a clue. You should never, ever, leave a shop with error codes displayed. You're paying them to do a job, they need to either do it right or tow it somewhere that can. As for your rattle, it's most likely your ACT clutch disc.

They said they bled, and topped off all fluids. I had the same clutch before, and never had such an issue. I spoke to them today, and dropped off my car, hopefully they'll find whats wrong, yesterday they just lifted the car to look if anything is loose underneath, and everything was good. Hopefully now they'll do a full exam.
Thanks for the inputs btw!

I just got the car back, and it's still in the same condition. Now they think it might be the front motor mount, does anyone have any experience with the motor mount making this kind of noise?

Well, it was a motor-mount in an Eric the Car Guy video on YouTube, so I suppose that it's worth checking.
But I still want to know if they bled the ACD. A lot of places are clueless on active centers. When you talk to them about bleeding the system, they assume that you mean the clutch and, of course, they bled that because that's something you always have to do when changing the clutch on any car. You really have to be very clear and precise when asking about this if they haven't done this on an Evo or STi. You need to make sure that they bled the ACD. One way to make sure that they really bled the ACD is to ask if they topped off the reservoir in the trunk. If they look at you like you're insane, because the clutch reservoir is, of course, under the hood, then you know that they didn't bleed the ACD.

Guess i'm going to sound dumb for this, but I didn't think you ever had to bleed any fluids with transmission, tcase or rear diff as far as that goes?? I know there is a bleeder nipple on the tcase, but everywhere i have read says don't bleed that. Me and a friend did my clutch install and didn't bleed anything except the slave. No noise at all like this you're having.
so maybe i didnt read right or i am not understanding.... you had the clutch replaced, hear a noise, and have asc light on.... and someone sugesting motor mount ... how does that make the asc light come on? im not retarded, just not same systems. sounds like you have 2 seperate issues. i have an act 6 puck and street lite fly wheel.... i get some rattling sometime at certain rpm when inbetween shifts... but nothing like you have. when my clutch was done my asc came on, my resivor was low, refilled drove around checked and topped off, all good. as far as noise, im with consensus, sounds like motor mount, but hard to tell from video without being in car and hearing where it is actually coming from.
Follow up question.. Did they remove any of the lines to the transfer case? If no lines were removed, I was under the impression that nothing needed bleeding. Where you at OP?? lol
