alright i am beyond stumped with this noise that's going on with my Evo 9. it sounds like a ball being rattled around in my intake manifold. that's where the noise is located intake manifold side of the motor. but the noise only comes on around 2,200 rpm and higher and only under a load. i could rev it to 4k rpm while parked with no noise but if i giver her some gas to get up to 4k quick the noise is there. and while driving over 2,200 rpm of course the noise is there but if i go down hill where there's little to no load on the engine there's no noise. i have a 2.3 stroker build with only about 13k on the build and GSC S2 cams. if you need any other build info just ask and ill get the info to you. but I'm really stumped and want to get this taken care of so i can get her ready for the spring months about to come our way. I'd really appreciate any help or guidance.

Could be detonation. Post some datalogs of when the noise is happening. Logs should include AFR, Ignition Timing, Load, RPM, Knock voltage, knock count.

 

FYI Rod knock notoriously sounds like it's coming from the top of the engine. Does it get faster as the RPM goes up? Take a video and post it. I'd stop driving the car until you figure out what it is. Take off the intake manifold.

 

My car makes a weird sound from the fuel injection system. probably has nothing to do with your problem though.

 

thanks for all the replies guys i appreciate it but it was tuned by STM so i can try and get those logs on here, and yes the noise does get faster after 2,200 rpm and then i cant hear it because the car is pretty loud above 4k. yeah im not currently driving her im going to tow her to my buddies shop so i can try and find it myself but if i cant ill just bring her back to STM and im sure they will help me find it but id like to find it myself and the injectors are newer FIC 2150. ill try and get a video on youtube to share on here.
