When short throws can get something like those, then I'll switch over.

Speaking to the OP topic, if I had to choose a short throw, I'd go with the WORKS.

Let us know which one you like.

Cheers,

~j.

So I ordered the WORKS shifter, Blackline Matte Titanium Weighted Shift Knob, Torque Solutions Shifter Bushings and WORKS cable bushings. Everything but the knob is coming from MAP.

I'll let you guys know how the install goes.

So I got my new setup installed last night. I installed each part and did a test drive between to see how positively/negatively it changed the shifter feel.

When I get a chance later today I'll post my thoughts and pictures.

Did anyone get a more severe lockout when they switched to a short throw? Until it's warm I can't get into any gear with the car on without messing around with it for 30 seconds.

sand down the pins the bushings go on. I had the same issue with my twm kit and i called them up and they told me you really have to sand the 2 pins down for it to be nice and smooth.

the ones with the lock washers on the end? I don't see how that would make a difference...

I can understand for the metal bushings and I may have to do this on the larger horizontal one, but the urethane WORKS cable bushings utilize the factory plastic clip that the pin is in contact with. I'm gonna pull it all off and use some additional synthetic gear/suspension grease. I sprayed some white lithium grease on them, but it may not have been enough.

Zero lock-out for me. Everything has been installed and working perfectly for over 2 years/40k miles now. I keep my tranny fluid fresh generally changing it twice a year and I think that helps keep things feeling great.

I have the Works SS on my MR and shifting greatly improved. Hitting reverse is kinda hard though sometimes. My friend says that if my knob is heavier, shifting would be even easier. Is this true?

Sometimes; my IX transmission liked a heavy knob but my X and S2k transmission did not. It's worth a try if you have access to one.

Maybe since the bend goes toward that edge it leans the other way to make sure it clears? I'm not sure, just offing a possibility.

...or maybe its a JDM/RHD model?
