Trans fluid temps - manual

It seems that under road racing conditions the manual transmission fluid (redline cocktail) is getting hot. It doesn't look particularly good and we are considering putting a pump and cooler on it but want to get some temp data first.

Does anyone currently run a transmission temp gauge now? If so, whose and how did you install the sending unit?

Any recommendations on a different transmission oil that might hold up better under heat?

Anyone have a pump and cooler installed now for their manual transmission? If so, whose and how did you do it?

Thanks.

Ok, an update.

Installed an AEM trans temp gauge. The sending unit was installed in the transmission drain plug. Drilled and then threaded. Wires were then just run to the dash and the gauge installed by the AC controls. It doesn't matter as there's no need to constantly monitor. just keep an eye on the temps.

On the Dyno for a while and the temps get to about 175, which is about right. We'll see if they get much higher at the track.

Try this you may see lower temps while running it.

If you go the pump route, Tilton makes a pump specifically for trans or diff.

Why would you say this? I mean, is there a specific composition to the fluid such that you know it to be more heat tolerant than Redline? I hate to simply swap fluids without having a strong basis for doing so.

Thanks

Well, yes I saw that, but was hoping against all hope that there was something of additional substance behind the statement aside from a pure motivation to move some oil. Clearly, I ask for too much.
