Automatic Radiator Question

Hey everyone,

I was hoping someone here might be able to help me out with a question Ive had floating around in my head for a bit now.

The Radiator on the automatic has a built in section for cooling the transmission fluid. Does anyone know about how much space inside the radiator is dedicated to this?

Or how big of a transmission cooler would you need to properly cool the transmission if there was no place in the radiator for it?

I have always planned to get a secondary transmission cooler (like the one Truth added to his RA) but Id really like to add a different Radiator and thus would need a dedicated transmission cooler. I just never knew the proper size I would need.

Thanks for any help!

the transmission cooler built into the stock radiator isnt that big. you can get a bigger radiator and any decent size cooler should do. i just took the measurements off of the one that rrm sells and found something of similar size at napa.

i just never got around to installing the cooler cause:
1. i'm lazy
2. havent bought a bigger radiator yet to want to deal w/ rerouting hoses

Alright cool. I wasnt sure how big the one in the radiator was and couldnt really tell by looking at it. Ive seen similar ones to the RRM kit at Napa and Auto Zone. I'll probably go a tad bit bigger than the RRM size just for safe measure. I should just PM you Raikiri you usually know the answers to my questions when it comes to the automatic! :P

The bigger the better IMO. Your shifts will stay crisper longer while driving the car if you have sufficient cooling.
