Whine sound around 60mph (t-case?)

So I have been having this whining sound in 4th and 5th gear when i am cruising around 60mph. The noise goes away when i let off the gas but when i have my foot on the gas and I am just cruising, the noise comes back. I have been reading and it seems that most ppl would say its the t-case. I am hoping not but if this sounds like the problem how much would the repair normall cost?

If anybody has some advice i would really appreciate it.
Thanx

what exhaust do you have? could be exhaust drone. also, you hear it in 4th and 5th gear, both at 60mph? that would make it speed dependent...pointing at the t-case

I have the HKS muffler with straight piping from megan downpipe. (keep in mind ive had the exhaust for a year now and this is the first time ive heard the noise) I would say that in 4th gear it does it around 40mph and 5th gear around 60mph.

I'm having the same issue and Jack from Jacks transmission said the best way to find out if its the transmission or transfer case is drain the gear oil and look for metal. How many miles do you have on the car?

those speeds in 4th and 5th would put them around the same RPM I believe. different speeds making the same noise makes me lean away from t-case bc that's speed dependent. so...I'd say either exhaust drone at that RPM or diff pins in your trans?

I have got about 40k with full bolt-ons and stock clutch. I think i am going to take it in this weekend and have AWD take a look at that. Thanx

i have a friend who has a 2011 ralliart in australia who has the same problem only she gets it in 5th and 6th gear cruising but also gets a vibration back through the steering wheel when backing off around about 100 kph they have replaced the transfer case but problem is still there , they are now looking at replacing the tail shaft .
