Non ball bearing turbo recommendations PLEASE!!!!
I have a 2005 evo with these mods, 3" exhaust, hard pipe intake tubing, 1000cc injectors, 255 pump, arp head studs, manual boost controller and the rest is basically stock. I am looking to make approx 400-450 hp and still maintain stock drivability. I was hoping to do it with just a turbo and without cams and I was looking at the MAP EF3 turbo. What kind of numbers can do you guys think I will make with just the turbo and no cams on about 28psi.
Thanks
Thanks

Borg Warner for the win... Not gonna bash stock frame turbos, just not a fan.. They are good for a while, but then they go up in smoke, and that's that... "IF" I had to recommend one, would say the EF series.. good luck

Both the FP Red and 3071 are BB units and about $500 more than a EF3...So if money is tight I'd get the EF3..
If you want to stick with the widely used and written about BB unit go with the Red
If you want to be a trendsetter go for the Garrett.. The older version of the turbo had poor spool and iffy power...I beleive Garrett has got the new GTX3071 in a great sweet spot...
I can't wait for this Spring when I can build the motor to handle all the power we feel we can extract on 93 Pump and 106 Sunoco

Try a slightly different approach and instead of looking at all out power figure out what rpm you want your power band to be within....that will determine the turbo and the out put-- green to red to black is ahuge difference in response, lag, power and power band..thwn match the turbo to your needs..
For what it's worth I'm on a journal bearing 84mm FP Red. This turbo has never seen under 25 psi from the day I've had it and it's got well over 25k miles on her with NO shaft play. I can't speak for the BB versions but my "old school" red has done nothing but outperformed my expectations and then some. I absolutely love this turbo for it's power as well as it's drivability.
In my opinion, with something as crucial as a turbo, you get what you pay for and the risk will usually reap such rewards. I am not saying anything bad about MAP turbos as I think they are a wonderful company with excellent products and customer service; but I'm just basing off of my own personal experience with FP. I think with either MAP or FP you won't be unsatisfied.
