Non ball bearing turbo recommendations PLEASE!!!!

I am somewhat new to the EVO world and the world of turbos in general so work with me. I have been reading and it seems like everyone is saying FP red and black, well call me what you will but I don't have 2500 bucks to shell out on a turbo. I know Borg Warner makes somewhat reasonably priced turbos and there are other turbo manufacturers that don't require a small fortune to purchase.

POSITIVE opinions wanted, please no bashing on me cause I don't want to spend 2500 bucks.

Thanks
Scott

map performance makes stock frame upgraded turbos. the base EF2 starts under $1700.

MAP and FP offer rebuilds on your stock turbo also which range from I want to say 700 to about 1200 depending how big of a turbo you want.

MAP EF-series turbos for sure. EF2 is equivalent to Green, EF3 to Red, and EF4 to Black. Check the "Dyno Results" section for plenty of EF results.

Don't be ashamed because there are lots of us like you lol

MAP EF series turbos are the way to go IMO. They are reasonably priced and perform very well

I would have to agree. Performance is damn near the same imo but MAPs EF series is cheaper. The only time I would go with FP would be if you were going to spend the extra cash on the BB versions.

I am in the same boat as the OP. I'm looking at the EF2, BBX Lite and the FP Green but the dyno results along with the price is swaying me towards the EF2....close to $1000 cheaper than a BB Green and they make pretty much the same power. If they make just about the same power, why the price difference? Is it simply the name, or is there any benefit the BB Green has over the EF2?

It's not huge really from what I read the BB turbos are a little more efficient and yea the name has a little to do with it I know my ef3 is comparable to a bb FP red and I'm making the same power as the red on pump 92 maybe a few numbers short but really nothing huge I like it and customer servious from the guys at MAP is awesome always very quick to help with any questions hope this helps yea buddy good luck

I'm still on OE turbo, but have been lurking the waters on planning a direction for months.

I have to say +1 on customer service with MAP.

If you want a great build combo that is budget minded, read Kracka's build thread and copy the parts he's finished with, and ignore the parts he started with and decided against.

Whatever you do, stay away from the stupid HKS turbo's. They're crap.
