just a few clutch questions, act wore out quick

Did anyone else have a problem with the ACT clutch? I have an ACT 6 puck sprung HD PP clutch kit and did not last longer than 50k miles. With that in mind I am leaning away from act but on the other hand I am the 2nd owner so maybe it was dogged. I can't spend 1,000 for a new clutch. Can it be recommended to just replace the clutch disk? That will only run me $100-200 http://www.maperformance.com/act-spr...l#.UM9Ol-TAfuN .

Currently 500whp
we just installed all new internals so there are plans to expand hp about 100-200

I had that same clutch in my STI and it lasted about 40k. I think 50k for a performance clutch is acceptable. You can do just the disc as long as the surfaces of flywheel and PP are good. Mine were chewed up pretty bad after the 40k miles

Thanks, The flywheel has marks on it from the clutch, nothing to terrible. generally would a resurface be suffice?

I will post pictures of the clutch, it is absolutely horrendous. Definitely the worst i have ever laid eyes on, the side of the clutch pads are broken off.

***attached picture
(the rust is because i live in south Louisiana and the clutch sat in my tool shed for 2 months while I rebuilt engine)

I do want to clear something up so no one gets mis lead, the clutch was installed somewhere in between when the car was bought 0 miles to now where it is currently at 50k miles. Like I said, the car already had the clutch on it when I bought the car and i bought it at 35k miles. Now the car has 50k miles on it. I have no way to know exactly when the clutch was installed, but from the looks of it the clutch was abused a little bit...

Indeed, especially at 400 or above hp. If you're wanting a stronger clutch that last longer, I hope you're car isn'ta daily or that you don't have any knee issues.
